Socially Distanced Podcast #25: The Infamous Point Pleasant Episode

It’s Episode 25! That means we’re finally here. The moment has arrived. Al and Bill sat down, watched the pilot for the failed 2005 FOX sci-fi/horror/drama/soap — Point Pleasant. Yes, Point Pleasant, a show supposedly set in the Jersey Shore town Al and Bill know extremely well, but in actuality was probably shot on the same sets The O.C. used. (Oh we talk a lot about The O.C. in this episode and Al makes some glorious admissions about it).

The series was created by Buffy the Vampire Slayer producer Marti Noxon and starred Elisabeth Harnois as maybe the daughter of Satan who washes up in a drama-filled beach town and causes more drama through side-eyed looks and spooky magic.

Plain and simple this show is hot garbage and the guys have a blast questioning every aspect of the show as well as their own decision to even watch the show. It ran in early 2005, and actually never aired as a complete series in the U.S. It did finish its run internationally and actually had a nice re-airing years later on the now defunct Chiller channel.

The series also featured: Aaron Paul (not kidding), Jon Hamm (for real), Grant Snow (Melrose Place), Samuel Page (Joan’s terrible husband on Mad Men), Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers), Aubrey Dollar, Cameron Richardson, Richard Burgi and Lisa Zane (sister of Billy Zane).

If you’re looking to stream Point Pleasant — you can’t. We found the pilot on YouTube in GLORIOUS 360p. You can check it here.
