Lovey & the gang are taking a break from reality this Monday and checking in on Power Book II: Ghost, the hotly anticipated sequel to the Starz Original Series Power. Power ran from 2014 to 2020 and was created and produced by Courtney A. Kemp (who also created Power Book II: Ghost), in collaboration with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (who also had a major acting role in the series as Kanan Stark).
The ladies may have missed the premiere due to the holiday weekend, but check back here every Monday for continued weekly coverage of the Starz original series.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 1 Episode 2
The hour starts off on a not-great note for Tasha (Natori Naughton, Notorious) when she meets with her new lawyer, Davis MacLean (Method Man, The Wire), and his investigator, Paula (Sherri Saum, The Fosters). Tasha inadvertently refers to her deceased husband as “Ghost,” and the slip immediately piques Paula’s interest, noting that “the Feds could never prove that.” This only serves to incense Davis, who has realized that he has no idea who his new client really is. Meanwhile, Tariq’s (Michael Rainey, Jr., Orange is the New Black) first day of canonical studies also goes sideways. He didn’t finish the book they’re studying (again), and both the professor and his classmates call him out for it.
The series also stars iconic R&B singer Mary J. Blige, Shane Johnson (Raising the Bar), Melanie Liburd (The Grinder), Paige Hurd (Everybody Hates Chris), Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains), Larenz Tate (Dead Presidents) and Glynn Thurman (A Different World).
