Review: Titan Championship Wrestling’s ‘Goddesses of War 2’

After a stellar debut event, The Goddesses of War brand returned to Ocean Gate, New Jersey this past weekend for its sophomore event under the stars aptly named Goddesses of War 2. Before the action kicked off, the entire Goddesses’ roster surrounded the ring for a 10-bell salute in honor of the late great Road Warrior Animal. After the salute the ladies would pound the mat as the iconic “WHAT A RUSH” and Road Warrior Theme played.

Early in the evening, and after a questionable victory over the good witch and “The Conduit of Karma” herself, Kaia McKenna was finally able to get some payback against rival powerhouse Debbie Kane. Kane would lay into McKenna early leaving a massive hand print imprinted on her back. The flurry of strikes would be followed by a textbook suplex. McKenna would rally with one of the most picture perfect running bulldogs you will every see and ultimately lock in the karmaplata arm submission for her first win at Goddesses!!

Fun Fact. McKenna trained at Black and Brave with the likes of Seth Rollins, Marek Brave, and even got a lot of advice on her witchy ways in the ring from another “lass-kicker,” “The Man” Becky Lynch. Gonna be a big year for McKenna moving forward.

Show stealer of the night goes to Lady Frost versus the “Gladiator of the Geeks” Riley Shephard. On paper you knew this would be great, but in the ring it was next level. The technical prowess of Shephard keeps getting better and better every time I see her. Combine that with Frost’s agility, and it is just magic in the ring. Frost’s corner attacks including spear-like strikes and her signature “Snow Ball Fight” are always amazing. Hands down, the move of the night goes to what I can only describe as a Statlander like no hand back flip off the ring apron onto her opponent. Unfortunately this spot ended in a double count-out which we are all super bummed about. Hoping to see a part two of this matchup sooner than later.

Later in the night, the always intimidating Mother Endless would absolutely dominate in her match literally using every trick in her book to make quick work of Valentina Vazquez. I’m hoping to see Vazquez pick up some more momentum at the next goddesses event, but Mother Endless is the real deal, and definitely a stand out at any event she is a part of.

In the match I was most excited to see, the challenger Adena Steele would take on the Champ, Champ, Champ The Notorious Mimi in a face vs. face, respectful matchup. Going into the match Steele would state that, “Everyone likes the new girl,” but her experience would be the deciding factor in what may have been her victory over the champ. Unfortunately we will never know how this match would end because due to some interference from a new Bunny Club faction member disguised as a ref, Mimi was able to retain. Mimi insisted, “I didn’t know!!” post match. Steele gave her the benefit of the doubt and the two embraced post match as a sign of respect.

Match of the night hands down goes to the Goddesses of War 2 main event cage match. The crew got the cage setup in record time – just in time for Christina Marie and Holidead to tear the house (cage?) down. Lot of slams into the cage and a lot of climbing. Even a super rock bottom type maneuver off the top turnbuckle. Holidead always has the crowd in the palm of her hand and Marie just continues to impress with her in ring skillset. Ultimately this match would end with a frustrated Holidead letting her rage get the best of her and allowing her to kick Christina Marie right out of the cage door to inadvertently give Marie the W. Post match Holidead took on her frustrations on the ref with a running slam into the cage, much to the delight of the fans.

A few announcements to end the night:

After her victory over Megan Mason, “The Gift of Gabb” Gabby Ortiz will be in a number one contenders’ match against Cage Match Winner Christina Marie at the next TCW event. Also announced The Champ, Champ, Champ, #Mimi3belts The Notorious Mimi will take on Kasey Catal for the title at Vals Pals Go to War!

Up next for the Godesses brand will be its first every Hallowed Grounds event October 24th. Click here for tickets.
