AEW Dynamite 11/4 Review: The Go-Home Episode for Full Gear Should Have You Amped For Saturday

The AEW Dynamite 11/4 Edition aka The Go-Home show prior to Full Gear creatively lived up to expectations. The show had more promos than usual, but well worth the watch. Each promo had a special infusion of emotional prowess and a draw factor to increase any investment their viewer would already have.

The in-ring confrontation between Moxley and “Mad King” Eddie Kingston was a work of art. Not very long, but right to the bitter point. “Friends to the end” indeed as promises were made of neither willing to utter the words “I Quit” while both threatening to “end” the other.

PAC pre-taped promo looks promising to see the international wrestling star back soon, and even more mentally unstable than before.

Good Ol’ Jim Ross sits down with both Kenny Omega and Hangman Page in different segments, with Omega exuding the arrogant confidence we’ve come to expect. However, Ross easily points out the trepidation and frequent inebriation of Page as symptoms of anxiety and worry, to which Page hits an excellent note about real-life nerves in high-tense and pressure situations which can have a lasting effect on a person. This might be a scripted show, but as a therapist myself, I can appreciate those words, as many individuals in life, jobs, family, find themselves surrounded by an aura of anxiety in these high-pressure predicaments.

Last but not least, Chris Jericho on commentary tonight, always a welcome addition. His skewering of Tony Schiavone is as brilliant as always.

MJF and Wardlow defeated Sammy Guevara and Ortiz

Really good opener. Enjoyable, and everyone got their moments to spot light. Wardlow continues to impress me, and he makes that F-10 look good. At first, and I couldn’t have been the only one thinking that “F-10” finisher was a riff of Brock’s F-5. But damn, Wardlow makes it look punishing. Sammy continues to be the sell king, even after Matt Hardy ran down to lob a chair in his face.

Post match, MJF mows down Jericho and puts him through the announce backdrop. Jake Hager came back to help separate the two.

Can’t wait for that one at Full Gear

Miro defeated Trent

Once more, a great match. I did not know Trent and Miro had a training history together, very cool of the announce team to play it up. Miro used the brute force, while Trent took the defensive and offensive tactics to perfection. His individual strikes didn’t do much, but a flurry of them would take the big man down. Trent hit a beautiful Dragon Suplex. Ultimately, after much interference by Dark Order, Trent would submit to the GAME OVER.

However, this continued to build  the feud with Orange Cassidy.

Team Taz is out… and Team Taz is ANGRY.

Taz wants to know how Brian Cage is ranked #1, how Starks has a record to rival cage, and isn’t even ranked. Taz wants to know where the title matches, are and wants to know why they aren’t booked in any feuds, in any matches, and won’t appear at Full Gear. This sounded more like a threat at management. Interesting.

The Young Bucks defeated Private Party

It would not have been a disappointment if the Party would have won. They’ve beaten the Bucks before, and with Matt Jackson continuing to sell the ankle injury, it would have made sense and driven the underdog stock higher. Instead, we got a great back-and-forth see-saw of a match with everyone making the high dives, and lots of opportunity for Matt to worsen his injury. Finish was the BTE Trigger.

Forgot to mention, before the match started, Sammy showed up to brawl with Matt Hardy to the back.

Post-match, FTR and Tully Blanchard arrives to lay waste to the Bucks, until Hangman Page and Kenny Omega make the save. Worth to note, Hangman was out first with Omega slowly trailing him.

Nyla Rose defeated Red Velvet

Despite backup in the form of Brandi Rhodes, Velvet had no chance. The post match banter from Vickie Guerrero was a bit weird, slightly amusing, but the end remark was bordering line 1980’s wrestling gimmick racist.

Cody and The Gunn Club defeated Dark Order

Impressive Austin Gunn got to hit his finisher and then earn the pinfall victory. Pretty good match, but overhyped with Darby Allin sitting in the rafters. I’m waiting for Sting to hobble up there and ask Darby is the seat next to him is taken.

In any case, great match, John Silver is comedy gold, and over, AEW Dynamite 11/4 was just a fun episode to watch.

AEW Dynamite 11/4 is now streaming on the TNT website and app.
