WWE 2k Battlegrounds to Add New Characters Throughout November

Thanks to the fine folks over at 2k Games, we’re giving you a first look into some of the new character additions for WWE 2k BattleGrounds.

As previously announced 2k will be adding over 50 more characters to the game for free in the coming weeks and months. Naturally, many of these characters will have to be unlocked using in game currency, based on their stature.

First updates (which happened Friday November 6, 2020) included: The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) , Batista, and Goldddddbberrggg. The Usos will be unlocked while former World Heavy Weight Champions, Goldberg and Batista will have to be unlocked. Announced release dates for the following characters are as follows.

Wednesday, November 11:

Ultimate Warrior

Eddie Guerrero (unlocked)

Lita (unlocked)

Wednesday, November 18:

Trish Stratus

Booker T

Ruby Riott (unlocked)

Please Note: Exact dates are subject to change. Also, some Superstars and cosmetics require unlocking through in-game currency. In-game currency can be earned or purchased.

One thing I absolutely love is that nearly all of the characters throughout the game have multiple attires. Characters like Jimmy and Jey Uso even had their old gimmick attire as well. Goldberg even rocked some of his non-wrestling gear attires including his baseball style tee. I’m a details guy, so I appreciate stuff like this. Also, the character models look great for this arcade more cartoonish style.

As an added bonus, each update will also include a selection of Superstar and Battleground arena customization items, including outfits, face paint, arena designs, color schemes and more!! As an old school C.A.W (Create-A-wrestler) creator I absolutely love this!!

As this game is obviously more of a button masher the move-sets are often less specific to the character than in 2k games of the past, but the signature and finishers are really fun. As we’ve already scene many of these finishers have a literal spin on them to add to the fast paced, arcade style intensity of this game. Goldberg’s Jackhammer and Batista’s Powerbomb are absolutely vicious!

The entrances are super fun as well, but I will say Batista shooting his signature turret entrance without all the necessary background pyro is always a little weird. (We all know I’m a stickler for pyro) The crowd chanting for Goldberg, however was on point. Something I also noticed is Jey and Jimmy do not come out together even in tag team matches.

The characters are all a blast to play with and some are arguably unstoppable to play against as I would have a hard time trying to win in bouts over the likes of Goldberg and Batista. The new additions also make for some great multiplayer game nights and keep us excited for more additions in the coming months. I’m actually okay with the slow burn here but my one gripe with the game remains the same: The lack of any NXT or recently called up NXT talent in the game that would ideally feature some of the best talent in the world. I just think that it would add another layer to this already really fun game so we could truly Bask in it’s Glory!! Never say never.
