Other than Among Us, there hasn’t been a game in 2020 that’s created its own community and garnered such a well-deserved following like Mediatonic and Devolver Digital’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Have you ever wanted to play a game heavily inspired by shows like Takeshi’s Castle (or MXC as most Americans know it) or Wipeout with your own customizable walking jellybean…thing? Well, do I have the game for you.

Putting away the guns and enclosing circles, Fall Guys is a different kind of battle royale experiencing that has players competing and, at times, working together through different minigames to be the last one standing. The game features a variety of minigames that usually have players racing for the finish line, making sure they’re still standing while their opponents fall in a pit of slime, or suddenly team up and work together to win all carry their own unique challenges, but are non-stop fun because of the rich challenges that offer a rewarding satisfaction in overcoming.

You’ll never forget the wondrous feeling of making it to the top of Slime Climb, successfully stopping other teams ball in Rock n’ Roll, being that one person to successfully guess the correct doors in Door Dash, or earning your first crown. Even better is that the simplistic controls and easy to understand games make victory always in sight and Fall Guys is truly that one battle royale that anyone can pick up and play.

The customization options for your little jellybean character are even crazier since the in-game currency is relatively easy to earn and each season comes with a free battle pass that allows you to earn even more rewards. Not to mention, the game has gotten so big that players have gotten involved and allowed players to dress their characters as pop-culture icons. Honestly, seeing players dressed like Sonic the Hedgehog, Godzilla, Atlas and P-Body from Portal, and even iconic personalities like Ninja and Mr. Beast at the start line of races has been hilarious and a great showing of how far this small indie title has come. It definitely helps that Mediatonic has been instrumental in supporting the game in adding new minigames and patches to improve the quality and keep things fresh. The seasonal theme updates have been great so far and really give the game a whole new look that’s always refreshing to see.

As it heads into its winter wonderland themed third season, Fall Guys is a crowning achievement in community building and simplistic play that offers an ever changing, challenging, and overall rewarding experience that anyone and everyone can enjoy.
