Welcome back to another exciting installment of Pop Break TV’s Live, Laugh, & Lovey. The crew dives into the latest chapter of the new Starz original series Power Book II: Ghost Episodes 8 & 9.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 1 Episode 8 (Aired December 13,2020)

Its Parents’ Weekend on the Stansfield campus.Brayden (Gianni Paolo) wants Tariq (Michael Rainey, Jr.) to consider adding cocaine to the Course Connect menu since Homecoming is the perfect time to make a killing. Tariq initially takes a hard pass, but when 2-Bit (Michael J. Ferguson) shows up at the dorm with a gun looking for him to pay Ghost’s debt; Tariq links up with Effie (Alix Lapri) to make a bag of cash.

Power Book II: Ghost Ep 9 (Aired December 27, 2020)

After Tariq (Michael Rainy, Jr.) gives Epiphany (Brandi Denice Boyd) a lifeline by giving her the money to disappear; he goes to the bar to meet Monet (Mary J Blige), and is up front about giving Epiphany the money he earned from selling Tejada drugs. She pulls a gun on him, and things are about to get very ugly. But then two cars pull up outside and start shooting up the bar with abandon. Tariq grabs Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) and gets cover, while Monet and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) scramble to avoid the gun show. Eventually, Dru tries to slip out the back and try to sneak up on the shooters, but he winds up taking a bulletin the shoulder.

This series picks up days after the finale of the original Power and follows Tariq St. Patrick, son of original series character James St. Patrick aka Ghost. The sequel series follows Tariq St. Patrick’s journey in his new life (away at school) where he wants to put his father’s legacy behind him, but pressure to save his family might cause him to go down the same path.

The series also stars iconic R&B singer Mary J. Blige, Shane Johnson (Raising the Bar), Melanie Liburd (The Grinder), Paige Hurd (Everybody Hates Chris), Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains), Larenz Tate (Dead Presidents) and Glynn Thurman (A Different World).
