Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.

Here’s the format of the show:

The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including HBO’s Succession & Insecure; Netflix’s The Great British Baking Show; and the classic anime series Cowboy Bebop.

News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss the latest in the Dave Chappelle controversy at Netflix, including a round up of how the Netflix CEO spent much of the last month defending Chappelle’s anti-trans hate speech and allegedly firing and harassing the LGBT employees who stood up to him and organized a walk out on October 20th.

Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. This month, Bill & Josh gave the honor to Disney Plus in anticipation of the streamers Disney Plus Day on November 12th, along with the recently dropped Book of Boba Fet trailer. Meanwhile, Alex threw his lot in with the Fremen as he selected HBO MAX as the winner thanks to the huge debut of Dune and the return of Succession, Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Last Week Tonight.

Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh watched Netflix’s Colin in Black & White, a new half hour docuseries from acclaimed director Ava DuVernay (The 13th; When They See Us) charting the life of former NFL Quarterback and current Civil Rights Activist Colin Kaepernick as he grew up (played as a teen by Jaden Michael) in suburban Wisconsin raised by his white adopted parents, played by Weeds’ Mary Louise Parker & Parks & Rec’s Nick Offerman.
