Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are here for their January movie podcast. The two are chatting about Snow Dogs, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Snow Dogs is a family film directed by Brian Levant. It was inspired by Gary Paulsen’s book, Winterdance, and produced in part by Disney. It opened in theaters on January 18, 2002.
The film follows a Miami dentist named Ted Brooks (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), who journeys to Alaska after he learns he’s adopted. There he meets his birth father, Thunder Jack (James Coburn), who teaches the city slicker how to mush Huskies. Other characters include Ted’s love interest, Barb (Joanna Bacalso), and Ted’s adoptive mother, Amelia (Nichelle Nichols).
Snow Dogs received mostly negative reviews but did make $115 million on a $33 million budget.
The brothers talk about the movie’s plot, characters, and comedy. They also discuss its similarities to other dog movies.
