Wrestlemania Season Is Here: Royal Rumble 2022 Predictions

Written by Kimmy Sokol

The 35th anniversary of WWE’s marquee pay-per-views is this weekend as Wrestlemania season has officially started! The Royal Rumble 2022 pay-per-view is the official kickstart to a new year in WWE. Who are we going to push on the road to our biggest show of the year? Who will be main eventing the show of shows? However, more importantly, who is winning the coveted Royal Rumble match?

Edge and Beth Phoenix vs The Miz and Maryse: This will be the third time the “It Couple” will be teaming together and although they are winning less against other couples and are desperately looking for a win that will not happen this weekend. Edge and Phoenix have looked dominant throughout this feud and this will be a fun match. Maryse will be taking the pin against Phoenix and the “Grit Couple” will be taking the win.

Winners: Edge and Beth Phoenix

WWE Raw Women’s Championship Becky Lynch vs Doudrop: Lynch has been dominant ever since she has come back at Summerslam. She is in extreme shape and has put out banger matches with the likes of Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair. Doudrop being in this spot is great. She has been great on Raw and this heel turn has been the best thing that has happened to her. With the rumors of a certain “Rowdy” wrestler coming back in the women’s royal rumble I do not see the man losing this match.

Winner: Becky Lynch

WWE Universal Championship Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins: As a huge Seth Rollins fan I am thrilled that this match is happening. This match screams a Wrestlemania main event, however, it seems like the WWE has other plans. This match can go either way, but with what I believe will happen in the other championship match the visionary will continue his undefeated streak against Reigns in championship matches. We are indeed entering the era of “The Drip.”

Winner: Seth Rollins

WWE Championship Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley: WWE is setting up for another Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns main event at Wrestlemania this year. Although both men are champions right now, I do not see the WWE unifying the titles so someone has to lose. However, this match is a dream match we have been waiting 10 years for, as both men have similar backgrounds. Both have been amateur wrestlers in high school and college and both have an MMA/UFC background. Even though Bobby Lashley had a strong 2021, his 2022 will be starting with being 0-2 on pay-per-views.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

30 Woman Royal Rumble Match: There is a lot to unpack here. The WWE is welcoming themselves to the forbidden door as Impact Women’s Champion Mickie James will be in this match, multiple hall of farmers and many different legends. Earlier this week there was a story broken about the possibilities of Ronda Rousey coming back as well. Other wrestlers such as Asuka, Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Paige, etc are also rumored to come tool. This match can go many ways, but I believe after a certain “role model’s” return she will outlast 29 other women to go on to the main event Wrestlemania.

  • Most eliminations: Shayna Bazler with 6
  • Longest time in the match: Liv Morgan
  • Shortest time in the match: Aksana
  • One surprise I’d like to see: Bayley

Winner: Bayley

30 Man Royal Rumble Match: If you have followed along with my predictions you know we are really picking who Seth Rollins is wrestling at Wrestlemania with this match. This match can also go a lot of ways. If Rollins does not win it’s easy to predict Reigns or Lesnar sneaking in at number 30 and winning the whole thing. There is not a lot of star power this year for this match, which is disappointing. On the road to Wrestlemania, this is the match that kicks starts a lot of the storylines. If I had to pick a winner, I’ll go with a risky choice Wrestlemania will be known as KOMania VI.

Most Eliminations: Omos with 8

Longest time in the match: Big E

Shortest time in the match: Austin Theory

One surprise I’d like to see: Corey Graves or Send Veer!

Winner: Kevin Owens

The Royal Rumble 2022 airs Saturday, January 29th exclusively on Peacock.
