Jaret Reddick and Rob Felicetti of Bowling for Soup brought their Acoustic Sing-A-Long Tour to The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park on February 18th.  The night featured some of their biggest hits stripped down for an intimate night with the pop-punk duo.

Living up to the name of the tour, Jaret encouraged the sold out crowd to sing along throughout the night and the crowd fulfilled that request. The duo played “My Hometown” to start the night. A few songs later was “Ohio (Come Back to Texas)” during which they stopped halfway through joking how the song has aged over the years.

Next up was a new song “I Wanna Be Brad Pitt” from an upcoming Bowling for Soup album. Jaret broke out a kazoo for the song and played a solo as Rob backed him on guitar. Soon after, nature called and Rob jumped off stage for a bathroom break. Killing time while Rob was missing, Jaret played an acoustic version of Social Distortion’s “Ball and Chain.” This was only the start of the covers they would play.

Jaret teased a new solo album he has coming up leaning more towards a country style.  He explained the album would be more personal and played a song from the upcoming album.  The song, “Royal Family,” talks about Jaret reconnecting with some members of his biological family.  After the song Rob joked “Anyway here’s Wonderwall.”  What started off as a joke turned into a full cover of “Wonderwall” and “Stacy’s Mom.”

The night ended, after countless Miller Lites consumed on stage, with their hits “Girl All the Bad Guys Want” and “1985.”  The crowd was singing along louder than ever for those last two songs. Jaret and Rob took the sold out crowd on a nostalgic trip down memory lane and got us all looking forward to what the band will put out next.
