AEW Dynamite 3/30 kicks off with Max Caster on the mic, current as always.
CM Punk defeats Max Caster
Is it weird I still feel as though Dax Harwood could have been given the W last week?
This week, Punk and Caster have a good match, with some pretty nice moments. Caster drops Punk with a Fisherman’s Driver and a coast-to-coast missile dropkick. Punk has his own moments with a top rope hurricanrana and a sick looking piledriver, followed by the Anaconda Vice for the submission victory.
Backstage, MJF and FTR talk about Wardlow except MJF says we don’t talk about Wardlow oh no no. MJF talks up his Pinnacle stable, but it seems Cash and Dax aren’t feeling it, and reveal they have friendship and loyalty with Wardlow. MJF takes the middle-school approach by trying to convince FTR that “Wardlow talks crap about you.” FTR visibly not buying it as we go back to the ring.
Jon Moxley defeats Jay Lethal
Man, this is too awesome. Live crowd is split from the get-go. Fantastic match. It’s clear AEW is starting to move forward with Lethal in a direction, likely the “I need to win” bit – which could prompt a heel turn for the Ring of Honor favorite. The match showcased a fantastic mesh between brawling and wrestling.
I can’t help but notice Lethal Injection is often countered into the match finale.
FTR defeats Gunn Club
Not the best match, but boy does FTR make everything look like gold. It’s clear FTR is going the way of the babyface, but truth is, they’ve been cheered regardless of alignment. This is a pure wrestling team who are at the front of making tag team wrestling not just important, but special.
The story is Wardlow attempting to get to MJF but being stopped by a number of security guards. FTR appears to have zero interest in MJF’s drama, and Dax is clearly heard saying “Wardlow is still my guy.”
In a later segment, FTR hypes up their ROH Tag Team Championship match this weekend.
Backstage: The Jericho Appreciation Society gloat, with Jericho using many familiar WWE terms which may send Twitter into another downward spiral. However, the gloating goes on a little too much, prompting Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz to come out and start a big brawl. While our New York boys initially have the upper hand, the numbers are too much and the J.A.S. dominates. One has to wonder who Eddie will recruit to go up against the larger stable.
Bryan Danielson defeated Wheeler Yuta in one hell of a match. This was Yuta’s MVP party. Holy crap. Yuta took Danielson to the limit, fighting back at Danielson’s every move. Ultimately, Yuta threw everything he could, but Danielson ultimately took the win. Yuta earns MVP tonight with german suplexes, insane bridging submissions, and bringing out some of the best wrestling to date.
Adam Cole and ReDragon “celebrate” with a mock championship party. It’s a fun promo with Kyle O’Reilly succumbing to the effects of Champagne and Bobby Fish taking over the promo. Ultimately it comes to Cole who cut a great promo about how champions don’t have to steal their trophies. Their promo is interrupted by Hangman Adam Page driving an electric Tesla with the longhorns on the hood. Their escape is stopped by Jurassic Express and Christian. The babyfaces take back their stolen goods.
The Bunny is in the ring awaiting the newest addition to the AEW Roster… TONI STORM!
Sure, it’s a clear bet Storm will be victorious, so the match becomes an exercise in Storm shaking off the ring rust, demolishing with a sick Piledriver (Storm Zero) for the win.
Andrade El Idolo defeated Darby Allin in the main event of AEW Dynamite 3/30.
Good for Andrade to get the win, and it makes 100% sense. There will be a long feud between the AFO against Sting and Darby. Matt and Jeff Hardy rush out to make the save as the show closes.
Darby was bat-nut crazy with the sick bumps he took and the reckless aerial moves which seemed to edge him closer to victory. Unfortunately, it was not his night.
Yuta vs. Danielson easily stole the show, with Lethal vs. Mox as runner up. Seeds are being planted for some long term stories, which are also unfolding on Rampage. Lot of hype for this Friday’s show where the main event is going to be one hell of a Hoss Fight – Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Keith Lee.
