Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.

Here’s the format of the show:

The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Disney Plus’ Ms. Marvel & Baymax; AMC’s Better Call Saul; and Hulu’s The Bear.

News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss the recent news that CW’s The Flash will be returning early next year for a shortened 9th and final season.

Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. This month, everyone had a different pick. Josh declared HBO MAX the winner thanks to its Emmy nomination haul, it’s flashy A24 content deal, and the buzz around their new Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. Meanwhile Bill gave the crown to DisneyPlus, which also made out pretty well on Emmy nomination morning, has a trio of hype-worthy new series coming soon in She-Hulk, I Am Groot, and Andor, and welcomes a new season of BLUEY. Finally, Alex decided to give it all to Hulu, with their discourse dominating content in the world of both TV (The Bear & Only Murders in the Building) and Film (Bob’s Burgers, Fire Island, Good Luck to You Leo Grand, & Not Okay).

New Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh watched Prime Video original series Paper Girls created by Toy Story 4’s Stephany Folsom & Halt & Catch Fire’s Christopher Cantwell and starring Ali Wong and a half dozen young actresses, and of course it is adapted from the acclaimed comic book by Brian K. Vaughan The series follows a group of twelve year old paper delivery girls who have a Hell Night they’ll never forget.
