Sea.Hear.Now 2021 is less than two months away and it’s super-exciting to know that this festival is around the corner.
SHN is an incredible experience — from the art to the surfing to listening to live tunes on the Asbury beach. This year is particularly exciting with: Green Day, Stevie Nicks, My Morning Jacket, Gary Clark Jr., Billy Strings, Boy George and Culture Club and a plethora of national and local acts perform. Also, you can’t deny how this festival — despite it size and renown — still feels like a great big locals hang out with a great hangout vibe to it.
Yet, one of the coolest aspects of the festivals are the legendary Late Night Shows.
Kicking things off on Friday Night September 16 will be The Backseat Lovers — a band that took the alternative world by storm this year with their hit single “Kilby Girl.” Supporting acts for this show are to-be-announced. Doors are at 7 p.m. Tickets are available here.
Down the block at The Wonder Bar is the first-ever all locals show that’s been dubbed “There Goes the Neighborhood.” This show is not to be missed as it will feature the almighty Asbury rock outfit gods, Yawn Mower, Sunshine Spazz and special guests Pamela Flores (returning to Asbury from Hawaii) and Low Cut Connie‘s Rachel Ana Dobken and former Lowlight lead singer, Renee Maskin. Tickets are available here.
The infamous Ocean Avenue Stomp returns on Saturday September 17. This show kicks off at 10:30 p.m. and is always one of the hottest and hardest to find tickets in town. Sea.Hear.Now co-creator Danny Clinch and The Tangiers Blues Band will perform on The Stone Pony Stage and there will be a plethora famous guests hopping on stage to jam with the band. It’s a guarantee you’ll see once-in-a-lifetime jams at his show. Ticket are available here.
Down the block, the “hi-tide” hits The Wonder Bar as two acts from the Jersey-born and internationally renowned surf rock label Hi-Tide Recordings perform. The all-female surf outfit The Surfrajettes — who are on the SHN bill for this year — will headline while labelmates (and old friends ours) Black Flamingos — an SHN alumni — will open things up.
