As WWE has Wrestlemania, AEW has All Out, Impact has Bound For Glory. This pay-per-view is the biggest pay-per-view Impact puts on every year, and this year is no different. With the opportunity to call your shot for a title match at any time, retirement at stake, or the chance to win championship gold here are my Bound For Glory 2022 predictions.
Pre Show- Brian Myers vs TBD Impact Digital Media Championship: Brian Myers has held the title just short of 100 days making sure to keep the title warm for when his partner in crime Matt Cardona fully comes back to Impact from his torn tricep injury he suffered during the summer. I can totally see the TBD being Cardona to defeat Myers in a fun little match to open up Bound For Glory. If it is not Cardona, I still see whoever the TBD is defeating Myers. Winner: TBD
The Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal: PCO, Rich Swann, Gisele Shaw, Heath, Bhupinder Gujjar, Bobby Fish, Steve Maclin, Moose Sami Callihan, plus 11 TBDS: This battle royal is always interesting because unlike the traditional battle royal the final two have to compete in a one on one match to win the trophy and contract. I see this match going a lot of different ways, but after Maclin’s huge win at Victory Road I definitely see him being one of the final two. With Fish making a rather controversial debut I see him being a huge favorite in this match. I think Maclin needs this more, but do not be surprised if somehow Fish ends up with the win. Winner: Bobby Fish
VXT (Deonna Purrazo and Chelsea Green) vs Jessika and Taya Valkyrie Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship: I love that Impact is capitalizing on the true dynamic Chelsea and Deonna have outside of the ring. You can see the true chemistry they have and it definitely shows in the ring as well. I don’t see them losing here. They just recently won the titles and they are having quite a run right now. Winners: VXT
Mia Yim vs Mickie James (If Mickie James loses she must retire): This is a contender for match of the night. In the only time these two have met all the way back in 2013 at MCW James was victorious. With Yim’s contract coming to an end in Impact the question remains is she going to extend or venture elsewhere. I see this match going both ways, James winning and Yim going to another wrestling company or Yim giving James one hell of a final match. I am going with the upset Yim for the win! Winner: Mia Yim
Mike Bailey vs Frankie Kazarian X Division Championship: Mike Bailey has to be one of Impact’s best signing acquisitions of the last two years. He is a talent that is incapable of having a bad match and truly knows how to deliver when the spotlight is on him. Kazarian however is an Impact veteran. He has been a part of some of Impact’s greatest moments, and given that these two have very similar wrestling styles this match is definitely going to kill. However, since Kazarian is not signed with Impact Speedball is going to add another W to his extraordinary year. Winner: Mike Bailey
Honor No More (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) vs The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin): When you think of Impact’s tag team division the first team you think of is Shelley and Sabin. They have cemented their legacy in Impact Wrestling history, which is the opposite of what Honor No More stands for. The interesting part about this match is Bennett and Taven’s contract expires that night, so do they stay to continue their dominant reign, or do they venture to other companies. If you are all about nostalgia I think you are going to be happy with the winner of this match.
Winners: The Motor City Machine Guns
Jordynne Grace vs Masha Slamovich Impact Knockouts World Championship: I love Impacts women’s division. They have three women’s matches on the main pay per view card and have a division that has wrestlers varying in all different styles and backgrounds. This match is going to be everything people are hoping for; hard hitting and great back and forth action. I am excited that Grace finally is getting her due as champion, however they have been building up Slamovich for well over a year. This is her time to shine! Winner: Masha Slamovich
Josh Alexander vs Eddie Edwards Impact World Heavyweight Championship: This match is definitely going to be fascinating to say the least. If you were to ask me a year ago what the main event would be for Bound For Glory I would not have predicted this match. If Taven and Benett retain, I definitely would have Edwards win to have Honor No More reign supreme in this new era of Impact. However, since I didn’t pick them I see Alexander retaining, I think you save someone big for him to eventually lose the title to, maybe someone fishy? Winner: Josh Alexander
