So, if you read my prediction column you will realize that I was VERY wrong, but I see that as a good thing. Impact was able to put on a very unpredictable pay-per-view with very good wrestling matches and a few surprises. Here is my 2022 Bound For Glory review.
Brian Myers vs Dirty Dango – Impact Digital Media Championship– It has been rumored that Dirty Dango FKA Fandango in WWE would be hanging up his boots within the next year, but he made his presence at Bound for Glory ’22. With his new blonde hair and new attitude this match was really good. It was simple, but the fans had a huge reaction for Dango’s debut within Impact. Overall, a really fun and nice way to open the show. Winner: Brian Myers
Raven is Inducted Into the Impact Hall of Fame- I love wrestling stories, which is why I love hall of fame speeches. Tommy Dreamer inducted his friend and fellow ECW Alum Raven and it could not have been more perfect. Raven talked about his time in Impact, ECW, and within WWE and ended his speech by hitting a DDT on Dreamer, only in wrestling people I swear.
“Speedball” Mike Bailey vs Frankie Kazarian Impact X Division Championship- What a way to open the card. Like I said in my prediction piece this match was gonna be a killer regardless of who won. Bailey was able to prove why he is such a great acquisition to the Impact roster and Kazarian proved why he is still an incredible wrestler. This could have been anyone’s match, but the veteran took the win. I was very shocked by this, meaning that Kazarian is NOT signed to Impact wrestling. Fun match, excited to see what’s next. Winner: “And New” Frankie Kazarian
Mickie James vs Mia Yim- This was the match I was most looking forward to on this show and boy did this deliver. Both women just looked like they were having fun throughout the entire match. Counter after counter and near fall after near fall, please go back and watch this match. It is definitely worth it. James gets the win in the end and both women rejoice after putting on an incredible showing. The last rodeo is not over yet for James, so now the question is who will be the one to end James’s illustrious career. Winner: Mickie James
VXT (Deonna Purrazo & Chelsea Green) vs Death Dollz (Jessika & Taya Valkyrie)- Did I mention how excited I was that there were three women’s matches on this card, wrestling companies please take notes. This match was really fun. All four of these ladies are extremely talented and know how to put on a good match. I am a little shocked Death Dollz got the win over the BFF’S VXT, with Purrazo’s contract expiring within the next year and Green not wrestling under a contract it will be interesting to see what happens next. Congrats to the new champs! Winners: “And New” Death Dollz (Jessika & Taya Valkyrie)
OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) vs Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) Impact Tag Team Championships- If you guys watched this show and heard three people chant Maria’s name throughout this match it was definitely me and my friends haha. This match was everything I wanted it to be; fun and hard hitting. Taven and Bennett have definitely had one hell of a year on the tag team circuit and they continue to prove why they are a tag team to reckon with. The Motor City Machine Guns are just veterans that have been doing this forever, a very great dynamic. I was so surprised OGK won, meaning that their contracts are up within the next month. Please watch this match. It was a good one. Winners: OGK
Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal- When I was predicting who was going to be the TBD’S for this match little did I know that:
- One of them would be Bully Ray and
- HE WAS GOING TO WIN THIS MATCH
I am all for a surprise, don’t get me wrong, but there were so many talented people within this match that are employed that could have used this match to solidify themselves. I liked the Busted Open hug between Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray and Taylor Wilde taking Devon’s spot and doing the Team 3D spot. However, I was disappointed by the winner it should not have been Bully *sigh* Winner: Bully Ray
Jordynne Grace vs Masha Slamovich Impact Knockout’s Championship- From one surprise to the next Slamovich loses her first match in a year clean in the middle of the ring. This match absolutely rocked. Grace continues to show why she is a force to be reckoned with and Slamovich proves why she is the future of the division. I loved this match even though I was shocked by the winner, now who will be the one to finally defeat Grace? Will a hardcore country girl capture the title before retirement, maybe? Winner: Jordynne Grace
Josh Alexander vs Eddie Edwards Impact World Championship- PLEASE GO WATCH THIS MATCH! I know I have said this about the whole card, but this was way better than I expected. Between Honor No More’s interruptions and Alexander’s hard hitting moves this rocked. Alexander broke his nose in the middle of the match, but that did not stop him from killing it in this match. Alexander wins and Ray comes out hinting he is going to call a hit shot and challenge him. Instead the two of them team up to take down Honor No More and put Mike Bennett through a table to close the show. Winner: Josh Alexander
I think the dynamic was different since I was there live, but this show was so much fun. Impact continues to prove why they are one of the best wrestling promotions in the world, and why you should be watching this company. I highly recommend this show to anyone, this show did not disappoint and continues to prove that Bound for Glory ’22 is the biggest show of the year!
