The season two finale of Emily in Paris left audiences with a cliffhanger regarding Emily’s (Lily Collins, Love, Rosie) work and love life. With Madeline’s (Kate Walsh, Grey’s Anatomy) surprise appearance in Paris, the entire French staff leaves Savoir under Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Call My Agent!) leadership; she plans to take Emily with her. On the other hand, as Emily’s relationship with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount, Snatch) grows, so do her suppressed feelings for Gabriel (Lucas Bravo, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris), but her confession is brought to a halt when he gets back together with Camille (Camille Razat, Disparue).

In the first episode of Emily in Paris Season 3, Emily is seen working double duty between Savoir and Sylvie’s new firm. By the end of the episode, all of the choices she had been deliberating get answered for her, as everything explodes. The 10-episode season follows Emily as she battles the decision of whether or not to stay in Paris, and how that decision affects her life.

Emily in Paris has always done a great job of incorporating French culture. This season is especially exceptional in making it a full bilingual season, as the French language is more prominently used than in past seasons. Not only is the French dialogue more prominent, but the use of French music is as well. Even Western songs, such as “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are translated into French.

Similarly, this season makes wonderful use of its location as many famous French landmarks are highlighted – as well as the drool-inducing French cuisine.

Lily Collins’s performance in Emily in Paris has always been a personal favorite. Her relatability and bubbliness make for a truly likable character. Emily’s struggle to learn French is also extremely relatable for anyone who’s ever tried to learn a foreign language. It’s also quite impressive as Lily used to speak it fluently. Lucas Bravo’s performance never fails as he is the perfect prince charming. Their characters’ chemistry has been impeccable since season one, and it continues to get stronger as the characters grow closer.

Costuming is an element that can not be left unnoticed. While in some areas funky, its bright colors and modern twists add to the characters and the ambiance amazingly.

When a series starts to add onto its number of seasons, it’s always questionable as to if the season will fit perfectly or if the new season will cause the series to fall flat.  Emily in Paris Season 3 is the perfect next puzzle piece to the series. With another massive cliffhanger at the end of the season, yours truly am most definitely looking forward to what’s next.

Emily in Paris Season Three is now streaming on Netflix.
