A Fresh Start for AEW: Team Mike vs Team Kimmy AEW Revolution Predictions

By: Mike Mueller and Kimmy Sokol

For the first time in four and a half months, we are finally predicting an AEW pay-per-view! AEW is looking for a fresh start in 2023 after a very successful 2022 grossing over $100 million. Now with a 60-minute iron man match, the first California AEW pay-per-view, and multiple stipulation matches here are our AEW Revolution predictions.

AEW Trios Championship Match: The Elite (Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson) vs House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, and Brody King):

Kimmy: This is a must-win match for House of Black. After all of the contract rumors regarding Malaki Black last year, this is truly his time to shine. For anyone to take the House of Black seriously again, they MUST win this match. Winners: “And New” House of Black

Mike: I also believe that this is a “must-win” for the House of Black, but I have absolutely no faith in AEW to handle Malaki Black properly. WWE couldn’t do it, and AEW can’t do it either. There’s no reason for the House of Black to lose this, but I think somehow they will, and the Old Stags and Kenny Beta will win once again.

Winners: “And Still” The Elite

AEW Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter vs Saraya vs Ruby Soho:

Kimmy: This match is interesting because of the storyline taking place at the moment with this women’s division. Truthfully, this should be a one-on-one match between Hayter and Soho. The narrative playing out is what side Soho is going to take, and Saraya could have easily helped her win to make her choose the heel team for Blood and Guts. Regardless, Hayter is going to retain and Soho’s new destination will be Team Freelancers. Winner: “And Still” Jamie Hayter

Mike: From the moment I saw her deliver her first snap suplex, I was a Jamie Hayter fan. AEW would be better served by putting the title on Saraya sooner rather than later, but the momentum for Hayter is still too hot to derail her now. Hayter wins, most likely by pinning Ruby Soho.

Winner: “And Still” Jamie Hayter

Chris Jericho vs Ricky Starks *JAS is Banned From Ringside*:

Kimmy: Ricky Starks by the end of 2023 will be champion of some sort. Now whatever title it may be he does deserve it and this is the start of his climb to gold. Starks proved at the end of 2022 that he can handle the spotlight and he can deliver when you put him in a top spot. Starks deserves this win over Jericho, give the man his flowers. Winner: Ricky Starks

Mike: Everybody talks about the potential MJF would have going to WWE. Those people are delusional. The person best served by jumping ship is Absolute Ricky Starks. Dude understands “sports entertainment” better than any non-WWE defectors in AEW. They have an “absolute” gem of a performer on their hands, and everybody knows it, including Jericho, who will happily do the job for him.

Winner: Ricky Starks

AEW TNT Championship Match: Samoa Joe vs Wardlow:

Kimmy: With the reboot of ROH happening, Joe will not remain a double champion for long. With ROH tapings underway in my opinion Joe will be a huge part whether it be in front of the screen or behind the scenes. All the Wardogs will be happy with this prediction. Winner: “And New” Wardlow

Mike: Of the many things AEW has dropped the ball on in the last year, none might be worse than the squandering of Wardlow’s potential. Dude should be AEW’s Goldberg. Fortunately for them, there’s still time to pull the nose up on this sinking ship. With ROH having a weekly tv show to focus on, they’re best served by Joe dropping his dual title status and focusing on building up the Honor Club. If Wardlow doesn’t win this, I might officially give up on AEW and “Booker of the year” Tony “Scarface” Khan once and for all.

Winner: “And New” Wardlow

No Holds Barred “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry vs Christian Cage:

Kimmy: Please, just let this feud end already. The feud dragged out because of Christian’s unexpected injury, but still, Perry has gold to claim in 2023. Let this match be the end of this almost year-long feud. Winner: “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

Mike: As long as Jungle Boy keeps getting the better of Christian, this feud can go on forever for all I care! Jungle Boy is the best white meat babyface in the company, and ideally will be the one to take the title off of MJF, but I know that’s just wishful thinking.

Winner: “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

Texas DeathMatch: Jon Moxley vs “Hangman” Adam Page:

Kimmy: This match is gonna hit no matter what happens. This feud has led to some great matches as well as fantastic promos from both Page and Moxley. Since it seems the BCC is leaning more toward the heel side, Page will get a nice loud reaction when he defeats Mox once and for all! Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page

Mike: AEW’s second-best Page will beat their first-best Jon in this match, but I expect a nasty, bloody brawl that steals the show, as everything Mox does is gold.

Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page

Four Way for the AEW Tag Team Championship: The Gunns (Colton and Austin Gunn) vs The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) vs Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal vs Orange Cassidy and Danhausen:

Kimmy: This match was not on my bingo card for 2023, but here we are. There are a lot of people NOT HAPPY with the other two teams in this match, however, Jarrett was going to be on the card regardless because it is Jeff Jarrett. Danhausen and Orange Cassidy are super over with the crowd, which is also why they are in here so don’t fret AEW fans. This match should be fun, but ultimately the champions will retain here, there is no scenario where any of the other three teams are picking up the win. Winners: “And Still” The Gunns (Colton and Austin Gunn)

Mike: If The Acclaimed were still the champions going into this match, I could absolutely see Jarrett and Lethal picked up the win, but given that the Gunns are the champions, I suspect they will retain, and Danhausen will, unfortunately, eat the pin. However; this match should have much more hype and fanfare going into it than it does. Just another way AEW has screwed up booking. Can you tell I’ve soured on this brand?

Winners: “And Still” The Gunns (Colton and Austin Gunn)

60-Minute Iron Man Match for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship: MJF vs Bryan Danielson:

Kimmy: For the first time in AEW history we are having an iron man match! Since this match has to go 60 minutes, one can assume this is why the card is shorter than every other AEW pay-per-view we have had so far. This match is going to be historic, but also really fun. Both of these men know how to entertain a crowd for an hour and they can put on an amazing story. Danielson will sadly take the L here because this is MJF and he is better than you and you know it. Winner: “And Still” MJF

Mike: I really hope MJF’s fiancé really did leave him.

Winner: “And Still” MJF

AEW Revolution 2023 airs this Sunday, March 5th at 8 PM EST exclusively on Bleacher Report.
