Team Bill vs Team Kimmy: ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 Predictions

In only one month of build, Tony Khan may have built one of the strongest ROH cards in recent times. From the AAA Mega Championship match, an epic ladder match to crown new ROH Tag Team Champions, and the collision in the main event between Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship. So, with seven matches announced here are our official Supercard of Honor predictions.

RUMORED MATCH: ROH Women’s Championship: Athena vs Yuka Sakazaki:

Editor’s Note: We will update if this match is not announced.

Kimmy: So as of this moment we have yet to see Sakazaki on any ROH programming since the start of the new show on March 2nd.  However, for our reigning and defending champion, she has been dominant on every week of ROH TV. From title defenses, promos, and other matches she is truly in one of the top moments in her career. For this reason alone I am picking Athena to secure the win here.

Winner: “And Still” Athena

Bill: On a card filled with absolute bangers, this is the sleeper match. “The Magical Girl” is a lot of fun to watch, but don’t let the affable exterior fool you — she can match Athena’s intensity. Don’t believe me? Go back to the AEW Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament that emanated from Japan. She brought a viciousness to her game. Athena should 100% retain here, and one has to hope she gets added to Saraya’s “Outcasts” group just in time for the All Women’s Anarchy in the Arena and/or Blood and Guts.

Winner: “And Still” Athena

ROH Six Man Titles: The Embassy (Brian Cage, Kaun, & Toa Liona) vs Metalik, AR Fox, and Blake Christian:

Kimmy: As I talked about in my review last week, if Cage wins this match he is staying with AEW if he loses he will be WWE bound. This match can easily go either way as the trio team of Christian, Fox, and Metalik has also been very hot on ROH TV the last month. Unfortunately, I see Cage going to WWE, so new champs it is!

Winners: “And New” Metalik, AR Fox, and Blake Christian

Bill: I think Brian Cage is going to walk. To be honest, I’d rather see Kaun and Toa Lioana become the new heavies for Swerve Strickland’s Mogul Associates, and have Prince Nana work with newer, younger (or less over) talent in ROH. This should be fun as the babyface team is extremely fun to watch.

Winners: Team AR Fox

Reach for the Sky Ladder Match for the ROH Tag Team Championships: The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) vs Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin) vs The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo)vs  Rush & Dralistico vs Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher):

Kimmy: This is the hardest match to pick on the card. Either one of these five teams can benefit from winning these titles. The Kingdom because they are from the original ROH and have that connection that the other teams do not have. Top Flight, Dralitsico and Rush as well as Aussie Open have been killing it on TV every week. Since they are a newer team they can add some much-needed spark to the tag team division. Lucha Brothers can win a title at any time they are great and the ROH Tag Titles are one of the only tag titles these two have not held. Meaning that I believe Rush and Dralistico are getting a huge push. I am going to pick them to reach for the sky and hold that gold high above their head in remembrance of Jay Briscoe.

Winners: “And New” Rush & Dralistico

Bill: This is a stacked match and it makes me miss the times when AEW would book matches like these. Mark Briscoe aligning himself with The Lucha Brothers makes me feel like they’re going to take the titles, and it’d be a great choice. They’d bring a prestige to the title, they’d produce fantastic matches, and ultimately could lead to a nice run of title holders. Could easily see La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush y Dralistico) taking the belts off them, and then Top Flight finally getting their moment with gold, defeating LFG.

Winners: “And New” The Lucha Brothers

AAA Mega Championship: El Hijo Del Vikingo vs Komander:

Kimmy: No matter what wrestling product you are watching this weekend, this match is going to steal the weekend. Tony Khan not only getting Vikingo to appear on Dynamite but also this pay-per-view, is a major win. Get ready to add this one to your match of the year folks, cause these two are about to not only take the weekend but also the year.

Winner: “And Still” El Hijo Del Vikingo

Bill: Hellooooooooooo there. The bar for this match has been set ridiculously high because both of these men have showed out in AEW, GCW and AAA over the past year. The GIFs from this will be bonkers, and we’re bound to see things we’ve never seen before.

Winner: “And Still” El Hijo Del Vikingo

ROH Pure Championship: Wheeler Yuta vs Katsuyori Shibata:

Kimmy: The Forbidden Door still exists in ROH, everyone! Since ROH TV started Yuta has faced and called out people within the LA Dojo. After defeating everyone that would step up to him, he called out the leader Shibata. This match also has a chance to steal the weekend, but unfortunately like the LA Dojo has lost in this feud so will their leader.

Winner: “And Still” Wheeler Yuta

Bill: Oh man, it’d be something if Shibata won this belt. It’ll add a level of prestige to the ROH Pure Title, and whomever beats him would be just that much more respected. I would say given the fact Shibata can’t wrestle week-in and week-out due to his physical limitations that it would make sense to have Big Wheels beat him. However, with the Blackpool Combat Club embroiled in a feud with The Elite, I think taking the belts off he and Claudio makes sense, as their 100% focus should be on Dynamite and Rampage. You can easily have Wheeler return and beat Shibata at a later date. You could also have one of Shibata’s prized LA Dojo students defeat him in a student vs. teacher match.

Winner: “And New” SHIBATA

ROH Television Championship: Samoa Joe vs Mark Briscoe:

Kimmy: This match all comes down to the fact that Joe is staying in ROH or going back to AEW. I believe after this pay-per-view we will get a more definitive idea of who is on each roster so we don’t have to be confused. The perfect story here is Briscoe winning the title in remembrance of his brother and getting the singles run only Jay got. However, I feel as if Mark may benefit more on the AEW side of things in the long run, and besides Joe is the king of television right?

Winner: “And Still” Samoa Joe

Bill: Mark Briscoe wins his first-ever singles title in Ring of Honor. Tony Khan is not opposed to going with the emotional win, and I can easily see the “Master of Redneck Kung Fu” winning this one. As for Samoa Joe? The World Title is in his sights.

Winner: “And New” Mark Briscoe

ROH World Heavyweight Championship: Claudio Castagnoli vs Eddie Kingston:

Kimmy: With Eddie Kingston “quitting AEW’  this essentially means he is staying in ROH for the long run. Now as far as the BCC and Bryan Danielson claiming “he is coming home”, does that mean ROH? If AEW is moving the entire BCC except for Moxley down to ROH for the time being I can see Castagnoli retaining his title. However, I think Danielson is going on a longer break than most expect, which means Castagnoli and Yuta will join Moxley on AEW. I am going out on a limb here, Castagnoli might be the honorable champion, but he is about to lose it to “the least honorable wrestler out there”.

Winner: “And New” Eddie Kingston

Bill: It’s time. Eddie Kingston is due to win the big one. I can remember the Hammerstein Ballroom boo-ing him unmercifully at Final Battle 2013, and now a decade later he’s the man we all want to see hold the belt. Eddie Kingston as the “mad king” of ROH is perfect. He’ll drive subscriptions to Honor Club. He can have terrific week-in and week-out matches on TV. His promos are legendary. He’s the man. Make it so, Tony Khan. As for Claudio, see my thoughts about Wheeler.

Winner: “And New” Eddie Kingston

ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 is streaming live on Bleacher Report on March 31st at 7 PM EST
