Socially Distanced #161: Mission: Impossible & Mission: Impossible 2

Thanks for checking this post! If you can, please subscribe to the Socially Distanced Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Anchor, and Google Podcasts as we drop on our new day — Fridays! And while you’re there if you can give us a rate and review that’d be awesome!

The Socially Distanced Podcast is a podcast hosted by two pop culture obsessed dads who were stuck in quarantine and decided to take their Facebook messenger conversations and turn them into a podcast. In 2022 they brought their friend, a pop culture obsessed mom to the show, and things got even better!

Join hosts Al Mannarino, Amanda Rivas and Bill Bodkin as they discuss everything in the world movies, music, sports, television and pop culture — everything keeping them sane in this time of socially distancing. This podcast is powered by ThePopBreak.com.

The mission, if you choose to accept it, is to listen to The Socially Distanced Podcast’s latest mini-series “The Impossible Podcasting Force.” This three-week series will see our intrepid team of podcasters rewatching and reviewing the films of the Mission: Impossible franchise in advance of the release of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1 (the seventh film in the franchise).

In the first episode, dubbed “Tom Cruise, ’90s Action Star” Bill Bodkin, Amanda Rivas and Alex Marcus discuss 1996’s Mission: Impossible and 2000’s Mission: Impossible II. They discuss the cast, why the franchise has survived for nearly 30 years, amazing stunts, horrible romances, the ugliness of European monarchs throughout history, Thandwie Newton trying her best, amazing plot twists and how this franchise inadvertently impacted pop culture.
