The term legacy act can have a negative meaning in eyes of some audiences and musicians but there’s acts that wear that term like a badge of honor and remind audiences of their true impact and genuine staying power. Alt-rock band Incubus demonstrated their immense appeal and talent were still in strong supply at their highly anticipated and very much sold out summer-stage show, with a set-list full of the hits and a truly passionate and committed performance from Brandon Boyd whose soulful and dynamic vocals still remain a definite selling point for the ban’s continued endurance.

Being a touring act for several years, the on-stage chemistry and musicality of members both and old ensured the band truly delivered on each song and it’s a testament to their artistry that songs both old and new fit together so seamlessly. Credit also to newest addition to the band’s lineup acclaimed bassist Nicole Rowe of previous Panic! At the Disco fame whose subtle yet hypnotic playing style more than complemented the set and was a genuine highlight throughout. Wisely the setlist deftly balanced both the highlights and hits fans came to expect such as “Nice To Meet You” and “Drive” while also weaving in more recent material without it overloading the setlist.

The true achievement of Incubus’s set was how powerfully it reminded audiences of their versatility and vitality as a a noteworthy talent thanks to their dynamic and exhilarating approach toward genre. The show was full of high-octane edgier numbers contrasted with more intimate and soulful selections that added layers to the experience. Despite the short nature of the show, Incubus managed to craft a singular and immersive show that more than resonated with fans new and old.

For many acts, it’s tough to always live up to past expectations but judging by Incubus’s most recent tour, they’re more than able to do so while continuing to showcase their artistry and relevancy.
