Are you feeling hungry? Well, today on the menu we have Huge Scorpion and Walking Mushroom Hot Pot and Man-Eating Plants Fruit Tart. Doesn’t that sound positively scrumptious?

It will, once you sink your teeth into Delicious in Dungeon, Netflix’s new anime perfect for a fantasy-loving foodie. The series is based on the popular manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Ryōko Kui.

The series follows leader Laios on a mission to save his sister Falin after she’s eaten by a dragon. He’s joined by his friends Marcille and Chilchuck. The three of them go on a journey into the mysterious and wild dungeon to find Falin; once they lose their inventory and money, they have to find new ways to fill their stomach. It looks like they must confront, and eat, monsters along the way due to their low funds!

However, Laios has always had a love of monsters and harbored a curiosity about how they taste…so why not? His friends stick beside him on his quest; after all, Marcille is an elven mage and Chilchuck a master of disassembling traps and picking locks, and both of them add something special to Laios’ party. But they aren’t the only ones. They are joined by dwarf warrior Senshi, who has been enjoying monster food for years, and is beyond excited to find someone as passionate about the topic as Laios. Meanwhile, Marcille isn’t so keen on it – but she still gives the food a shot, finding out that it can be, in fact, delicious.

The four of them start their adventure into the dungeon, and we meet some beasts (like a walking mushroom and some vicious plants), while also learning about the lore of this world. One thing that stands out is the mouth-watering way in which they describe the meals, along with their preparation. Like, okay, slime organs. How do we cook them? Let’s dry our slime in our portable slime dryer and wait two weeks for it to reach its peak flavor.

This anime does an amazing job at immersing you into the story and pulling you into the dungeon along with Laios’ party. You just might learn a thing or two about the monsters and prepping food along the way!

Delicious in Dungeon is perfect for fans of games like Dungeons & Dragons or fantasy lovers of any kind. That being said, the humor and fun storyline is enough to draw anyone in, especially if you have a passion for food. Even though there’s only one bite-sized episode out right now, episodes premiere weekly on Netflix, and we can’t wait to gobble them all up.

Delicious in Dungeon is now streaming on Netflix.
