Socially Distanced #193: Rebel Moon Part 1 Review + Peacock’s NFL Power Play

The Socially Distanced Podcast is hosted by two pop culture obsessed dads who decided to take their Facebook messenger conversations and turn them into a podcast. In 2022 they brought their friend, a pop culture obsessed mom to the show, and things got even better!

Join hosts Al Mannarino, Amanda Rivas and Bill Bodkin as they discuss everything in the world movies, music, sports, television and pop culture — everything keeping them sane in this time of socially distancing. This podcast is powered by ThePopBreak.com.

The Socially Distanced Podcast steps into the Snyderverse with a review of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire. The film was released right around Christmas and stars Sofia Boutella (Kingsman), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Ed Skrein (Deadpool), Michael Huisman (Haunting of Hill House), Jenna Malone (Sucker Punch), Djimon Honsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Ray Fisher (Justice League), and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Dan Cohen, host of Pop Breaks Batman by the Numbers podcast, joins Bill Bodkin and Amanda Rivas on the episode.

They talk about their hype for the film, their love for Charlie Hunnam in the film, the films Star Wars origins and it’s less than subtle homages, the bad writing that deep sixes most of the film and just how much the film lacked Snyder’s trademark ambition and flare.

In the pre-game segment they discuss NBC’s decision to put the Chiefs vs Dolphins playoff game on Peacock and is this going to be a savior for struggling streamers or a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
