Dinosaur Jr. Brings a Sonic Celebration of ‘Where You Been’ to The Stone Pony

Pop Break Live: Dinosaur Jr. Winter Tour 2024 at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey with Das Damen on January 24, 2024

Alt rock and grunge icons Dinosaur Jr. took the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey by storm on a frigid Tuesday night in January.

The band brought their Winter Tour 2024 to the house that Bruce built (which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year) as part of a rescheduled date from October 2023 when one of the band members came down with an illness. Outside of this being a reschedule date, the tour also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the band’s landmark record Where You Been.

The band brought a loud, raucous, sonic explosion to a packed house. J Mascis and company ripped through their classics like “Feel the Pain” and “Start Choppin” before concluding the set with their sonic interpretation of The Cure’s seminal hit, “Just Like Heaven.”

New York City noise rock veterans Das Damen — who reunited last summer after a 30+ year hiatus — opened the show.
