In this episode, Allie and Tyler parse their way through the very enigmatic new release Poor Things starring Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, Jerod Carmichael, and Margaret Qualley. Join them as they discuss the futuristic Victorian-era society, Emma Stone’s jet-black hair and try to figure out just what was going on with that apple.
The film is directed by Yorgos Lathimos (The Favourite, Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Lobster) and is written by Tony McNamara (The Favourite) who adapted the book of the same name by Alasdair Gray.
Poor Things is currently nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Stone), Best Supporting Actor (Ruffalo), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Costume Design.
