This month’s review of Space Ghost is in honor and tribute to the late George Lowe, voice of Space Ghost on the Adult Swim show, Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast. He passed away on March 2, 2025. A voice actor for generations Lowe served as a familiar voice for multiple characters on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Brak Show, and Robot Chicken. R.I.P.Â
Fans of the current Space Ghost series picking up issue #10 will be rejoicing, as this is the issue we’ve been waiting for. A thrilling and intense issue from start to finish. I will do my best to refrain from spoilers. I’ll apologize if something slips.Â
The issue kicks off with one of the many scientists working on an intergalactic discovery until something goes horribly wrong, potentially unleashing a major threat into our galaxy. I mean, when do we get a positive outcome from unchecked space/time/power experiments? However, before we see the wrath being wrought, a blast seemingly resolves the pending disaster. As readers feel the relief of the scientist, a familiar silhouette should cause celebration.Â
But there will be no celebration for us readers, and the scientist pays for his unchecked experiment… but not the one we witnessed, but one which hasn’t happened yet?! The figure reveals himself and readers are left shocked at who delivers a fatal shot.Â
The issue picks up as we return to a familiar location for Dr. Xander Ibal of RoboCorp. It seems he is about to launch a rather volatile element into space, but apparently with noble intentions of establishing a network to unite worlds upon worlds throughout the galaxy. As he delivers his monologue, the younger members of the team are eavesdropping for Space Ghost. This begins the part in which I predicted months ago. Space Ghost has an ongoing vendetta against RoboCorp, and this is another piece to a much larger puzzle.
Their spy mission takes a hard pivot when an explosion rocks the building, revealing Space Ghost as the assailant? Jan and Jace with Blip in tow scatter in confusion, because Space Ghost is still on the ship? As Space Ghost enters the fray, it is revealed the attacker is not Space Ghost, but a cosmic spectre from the future! As S.G. demands answers about Dr. Ibou’s plans, the CEO in a panic, reveals the mission must continue or lives will be lost! Reluctantly, the team agrees to help, but as the mission nears success, this spectre again appears, sowing chaos and confusion. The antagonist reveals his plans to stop death and destruction before it even happens!
As the battle ends, it is revealed who this individual is and why he came back to the past. But I will say no further as we return to the original scene of a crime which had not-yet been committed, and a familiar enemy with glaring eyes, staring into your soul, dear reader, with nothing but vengeance in mind.Â
The Council of Doom nears.
As I wrote earlier, this is the issue which I believe kicks off the big arc which will unite the rogues gallery of Space Ghost. We also see a glimpse into what may come in the not-so-near future. I enjoyed seeing a character introduced to pull off justice, Minority Report style. The past few issues have been fast-paced and intense. This intensity is driven by dialogue written by David Pepose, but major praise has to go to Jonathan Lau, Andrew Dalhouse, and Taylor Esposito who all collectively produced yet another colorful and explosive masterpiece which I feel leaves readers demanding more.Â
If you have not heard by now, Pepose is going to be headlining writing duties for Captain Planet, slated for release this April. If his work on Space Ghost is any indication, Captain Planet will be a must-read for us who grew up watching the show.Â
