The specter of a massive hit follows a band throughout their career.

For The Spin Doctors, their 1991 album Pocket Full of Kryptonite spawned two massive hits — “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.”

According to guitarist Eric Schenkman that album and those hits have hung in the room throughout the past 34 years of the band’s career. That is until now.

On Saturday April 12, 2025 The Spin Doctors release their new studio album, A Face Full of Cake, on Capitol Records.

The guitarist commented that the vibe of this record, and how it all came together is the closest thing to their 1991 record … ever. He mentioned to us that music just kind of fell into place and that’s a levity and fun to this album that they haven’t come close to in forever.

To celebrate the release of the album, which is available in record stores and all major streaming platforms today, they will perform a special show at The Brooklyn Bowl in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY tonight. The venue holds a very special place in their heart as the owner, Pete Shapiro, was one of the men who owned The Wetlands Preserve in Tribeca, a venue the band cut their teeth in. That venue shuttered in 2001, but since then The Spin Doctors have called the original Brooklyn Bowl home. The guitarist also admitted that a concert venue that has bowling and fried chicken … is pretty great (we can’t disagree).

According to Schenkman fans can expect to hear the new album as well as all the classics or as he puts “music from the two ends and in between.” Longtime fans may be in for a treat with this show as the guitarist stated this iteration of the band (including new-ish bassist Jack Daley).  “The band is on fire right now. It feels and sounds great.”
