Matt Taylor and our film editor Marisa Carpico are finally back for a 5th season of their Oscar retrospective podcast, And the Winner Still Is…

This series has Matt and Marisa going in the wayback machine to walk the red carpet and examine a singular year of Oscars. They break down the Best Picture nominees and discuss the major categories like Director and the Actresses. They discuss the cultural relevance of the nominations at the time and how those nominations have aged. They also talk about what they feel were snubs and their picks for under-appreciated films from that year.

As well as a few of their own personal snubs and under-appreciated films from each year.

The season continues with one of the Academy’s dual-year eligibility windows — the 1931/1932 Oscars. Matt and Marisa try to decide if it’s possible for modern audiences to find Maurice Chevalier charming, marvel at Miriam Hopkins and the consequences of smoking the wrong cigarette.
