In the case of 20-year-old indie folk singer-songwriter Evan Honer, his star power was in full force when he brought his heartfelt and intimate show to a very sold-out Stone Pony show.
With an unassuming yet powerful voice, Honer’s songwriting is direct and honest which is a large part of his appeal and this approach allowed his set to be thoroughly engaging. The chemistry shared between his band was also organic which allowed for a dynamic live set and the musicianship on display was at times truly exhilarating to watch.
As a performer, Honer is a likable storyteller and some of the show’s most endearing moments were when he was solo on stage acoustic. It’s a testament to his pure artistry that Honer has a notable command of his craft and emphasizes a strong emotional connection with his growing fanbase.
With a career that’s only a few years old, Honer is steadily building his sound and so far the results have translated well to the live setting. Another noteworthy aspect is the refreshing simplicity of Honer’s set. The focus on pure songwriting allows Honer’s strengths to be fully showcased and the overall results were genuinely captivating to behold. For any emerging artist, it can be a challenge to establish a distinct sound and garner a fanbase as well. In the case of Evan Honer, thankfully he’s managed to achieve both early in his career and it’s genuinely exciting to see where his talents will progress from here!
