Pop Break Live: Remy Bond on the ‘Star Shaped Baby Tour’ at The Foundry at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday June 1, 2025
Remy Bond, one of music’s hottest rising stars, kicked off her highly- anticipated Star Shaped Baby Tour at the Foundry in Philadelphia on Sunday June 1.
This New York city bred singer-songwriter started making waves in 2023 with her debut single ‘End of the World” but it was her 2024 viral hit “Summer Song” and her entertaining larger than life music videos that landed her firmly on the map. She has also drawn inspiration from old classic movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood which was apparent during her impressive set.
When Bond walked out on stage she looked beautiful and reminded me of some of the famous blonde bombshells from the ’50s like Marilyn Monroe and Jane Mansfield. It’s ironic that she opened her first ever tour in Philly on what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 99th birthday. A sign perhaps? There was a huge life-sized martini glass on the stage which was reminiscent of the old Jackie Gleason show from the ’50s in which he used the martini glass often as a prop for his dancers. Bond had asked her fans on social media to dress up for the show.
Some fans (affectionately known to Remy as her Bond Girls) obliged by wearing a dress, something sparkly or simply wearing flowers in their hair. She was backed by an incredibly talented fun dance troupe. The show definitely had a vintage feel to it as some of the outfits worn by the dancers included a ’50s poodle skirt and a waitress outfit that you’d see in a ’50s pop shop. The dancers were an integral part of the show and boy did they deliver. Bond was accompanied by a drummer, two guitarists and a very vocal crowd!
Bond opened her 15-song set with “Star Shaped Baby”. There were a few songs that really stood out which included “Simple Girl” and “Summer Song.” Those two songs are so melodic and extremely calming, as if her voice was a lullaby. “Movie Star” got the crowd dancing and “Paris” was a hit with the fans. She performed the unreleased song “Atlantic City” while kneeling in the super-sized martini glass. Bond also debuted the song “No One,” which was a nice treat for the fans. She ended the night with “Red White and Blue.” It’s a song that tugs at your heart strings, especially with the current political climate.
The show could not have been any better. There were no opening night jitters, as it felt like she was a seasoned pro at the tender age of 20! As I watched her, I thought not only could I see her having a big career in music but wouldn’t be surprised down the road to see her on Broadway. She has star quality written all over her. It was one of those magical nights that fans will reflect on at some point. How special to see Bond on her very first tour on opening night in such an intimate venue. If this stellar performance is any indication on how the rest of the tour will go, I see really great things coming her way.
