DESIREE Reclaims Remix Crown with ‘King Steps’

South African DJ and Producer Palesa Desiree Shilabje, known to the world as DESIREE, has reclaimed the word remix with “King Steps” – her recent project with UK electronic duo Disclosure and British-Gambian rapper and singer Pa Salieu. 

DESIREE’s remix of the song is a complete 180 from the 2024 UK garage-influenced collaboration between Disclosure and Pa Salie, in a good way. Her sounds are embedded in traditional Afro House, which makes sense considering she is from Johannesburg, South Africa. 

The remix transcends cultural boundaries and linguistic barriers, connecting people across various divides. Her sound is deep, electric, and rhythmic. She is not afraid to explore and express emotion throughout each beat.
