AEW Dynamite 7/9/25: The Road to All In Texas Ends on a Wild Note

The Road to All In is nearing its end. A hot Dynamite which is being followed by Collision and multiple pre-show events cap off a long road to the “WrestleMania” of All Elite Wrestling.

Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm face off before their match at All In

A venomous war of words transpires between the two champions. Storm seems unfazed and without fear. Mone on the other hand  tries to instill fear through means of overconfidence and dismissive jabs at her opponent.  While Monet was able to convey a message both threatening and gloating about a win not yet achieved, Storm, one ups each comment with something even more fierce and potentially violent. as Mone harps on creating a legacy, the World’s champion immediately dissolves it by calling her a fraud with a harsh reminder that death is permanent and we’re all eventually forgotten. That was some intense stuff.

Both women have no doubt upped their game tremendously since their respective debuts. Their Championship Collision is going to be epic and unpredictable is an understatement.

ProtoShita defeated Brodido

While Brody King and Bandido are not an official team, it wouldn’t be out of the realm to make them one. Fantastic match. Everyone wins. Brody is a beast. Bandido leaves fans in awe. Takeshita has the power while Fletcher continues to break out more innovation. His selling is the best.

The Outrunners cut a promo warning FTR they are not done yet.

Backstage, an interview with FTR and The Patriarchy gets tense as they discuss the AEW World Tag Team Championship match. Could FTR get involved?

Ricochet defeated Blake Christian

After weeks of being in a heel team with Lee Johnson, suddenly Blake finds himself in a babyface role against Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Great match but with a predictable outcome. Gates of Agony being aligned with Ricochet is a great move, as now Ricochet can continue his troll-like antics with big bodyguards to protect him.

MJF and Mark Briscoe’s Talky-Talk

This went exactly as one would expect. When Briscoe had the verbal upper hand over Max, the inevitable personal attack  happened. Briscoe, and fans assumed that MJF would disparage his late brother Jay, however Max took it to a whole new level by praising Jay and all his accomplishments as both a professional wrestler and a genuinely good person.  He then twisted it to then say that it should have been Mark who perished in the accident. It was a bit over the line, even though we have seen that when MJF gets into pretty heavy feuds he goes right for the jugular. This felt a little forest and uncomfortable. That being said, backstage, Mark Briscoe managed to keep a light-hearted position with an incoherent barrage of words which could be interpreted as threats for Max. It’s highly likely that they will have a feud following All In.

Tag Team Brawling

As the segment closed, Mark and Max came to blows but the Hurt Syndicate rushed out to assist their teammate. Then, JetSpeed and the Patriarchy also came out to brawl. Long story short, surprisingly the Hurt Syndicate were the ones left laying as the commentary team heavily puts over this is the first time we’ve seen the champions in a vulnerable position.

I’m not sure how well this went over either, but it seems they want to portray all three teams on an even playing field. As an added bonus, on AEW Collision, Mike Bailey pinned Dax in an 8-man tag. They are really trying to put over JetSpeed as a credible team and potential champions.

Megan Bayne defeated Thekla, Queen Aminata, and Tay Melo to be the #2 Entrant in the Casino Battle Royal

Fantastic match, all four women really showed out and put on a great match. Many points it seemed as though the match could have gone to anyone, however Bayne makes the most sense to go up against the equally imposing number one entrant in Kris Statlander. Aminata and Thekla have an incredible chemistry to put on some real hard hitting sequences. If they want to make it look like there is a real-life grudge, they succeeded.

Samoa Joe defeated Wheeler Yuta

Yuta got in some offense, however his sly and somewhat underhanded tactics were not enough to overcome the odds as Joe forced the submission victory. In a shocker, Gabe Kidd returns to rejoin the Death Riders. Hobbs and Shibata rushed out to make the save.

Yuta never stood a chance. The live crowd made sure he knew it.

With The Opps out, they are joined by “Hangman” Adam Page and Will Ospreay in their main event match against Mox, Claudio, and The Young Bucks. Unfortunately, the heels emerged victorious as heels most often do before a high-stakes PPV event. I have to say, the wild reactions from the live crowd certainly added tremendously to the main event. This was booked extremely well with a lot of near Falls and some pretty intense moments. A surprising finish saw Shibata submit to Moxley.

Hangman looked unstoppable and when he gets into angry-and-intense mode, it’s go-time.

The post-match brawl was not overbooked even though it started to feel like it. There were no extra run ins, but a clever revealing surprise with Swerve destroying the Buck’s limousine.

As the show concluded the faces were standing tall against the victorious heels. definitely making this Saturday’s pay-per-view all the more interesting and highly unpredictable.

AEW Dynamite 7/9/25 is streaming on HBO MAX.
