Inching ever closer to All Out, Dynamite continued its residency at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia with a night of wrestling which absolutely evoked the feel of what it was like to be in the ECW Arena.
“Hangman” Adam Page defeated Josh Alexander
Great match. Hard hitting, Alexander despite coming in against a world champion held his own and certainly gave Page a run for it. Page continues to be superb in a role which evokes passion and emotional assertiveness to deservedly call himself World Champion.
After the match, Kyle Fletcher confronts the champion. Page agrees to defend the World Championship at All Out, but Fletcher may not be ready for that main event spotlight just yet. That, and he needs socks.
Leave it to Phily to get socks over.
Riho and Alex Windsor defeated Emi Sakura and TBS Champion Mercedes Mone
This felt a tad rushed, and obviously meant to put over Riho as a credible threat to the TBS Championship. I’m just not sure the hype has been enough for it. The chances of Riho winning are slim. I’d love a title change, but it doesn’t feel believable. Who can believably defeat Mone? At this point they have run through everyone.
Where is Dr. Britt Baker, DMD?
MJF cuts a promo threatening Mark Briscoe. The guy has gone completely unhinged. Definitely got an old-school Ric Flair vibe but throw in some completely sadistic and inhuman mannerisms. MJF does stuff like this, he’s going to have a great, long career.
FTR promo: FTR tried to speak but the boos drowned them out. Dax got pissed, got in the face of some fans, and then beat up a cameraman. I get they went for some old school heel action, but the segment felt a bit flat and didn’t really accomplish anything, unless it’s to show how hated FTR have become.
Ricochet defeated Shelton Benjamin
He won with help from Gates of Agony. Winning cleanly would not have been believable at all. Shelton completely dominated Ricochet, mauling him with suplexes all over the place. A big brawl broke out to hype Ricochet and Gates of Agony vs the Hurt Syndicate for All Out.
This match was excellent. I will enjoy Lashley and Toa Liona bashing each other. Bishop Kaun has untapped potential. He needs a run.
AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Skye Blue in a Philadelphia Street Fight
This match purely homaged ECW. with Storm impersonating multiple legends such as the Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and quite possibly New Jack. A staple gun was brought out and boy, oh boy, that stapler hit some very sensitive areas. I dare not say them here. This was both wrestling and carnage rolled up in one. What made ECW grade is that you could have both a great wrestling match and a number of chair shots and table crashes mixed in. These two women beat themselves to hell and back, with a funny moment of Skye Blue being planted through a table full of mousetraps. After the match, a brawl broke out also involving challengers Jamie Hayter, and Thekla. Kris Statlander attempted a save but wound up getting inadvertently clotheslined by Hayter. There will be no friends at All Out. It’s every woman for themselves for the AEW women’s world championship.
The Young Bucks and The Death Riders defeated The Opps and Brodido
A fun main event to cap off a night of fun wrestling and promos. After an intense and unpredictable back and forth, the Young Bucks were able to use some underhanded tactics to earn the painful victory, and subsequently a cash reward. However they were not allowed to enjoy it as Brody King and Bandido beat up the Bucks out of anger for their shenanigans. As a brawl ensues, Darby Allin returns for the save but is taken out by a hooded individual. This hooded individual turns out to be one Daniel Garcia. It seems the Red Death is back, and it’s tired of losing and being pushed around. I’m not sure what was louder, the expletives thrown at Wheeler Yuta or the shock of Danny Garcia’s heel turn. It seems that Moxley has actively been on a recruiting spree and it begs to wonder who will be next to join his stable.
