Pop Break Live: Spacey Jane on the “If That Makes Sense Tour” with The Belair Lip Bombs on Saturday September 6 at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA

Indie rock band Spacey Jane played the Fillmore in Philly on Saturday September 6th. The band is touring in support of their third studio album, If That Makes Sense, released on May 9th. They’re known for their driving guitar riffs, dreamy melodies and their intense connection with their fans.

Female-fronted indie rock band, The Belair Lip Bombs, opened up the show. Their album Again is coming out in October and has received great reviews. Singer Maisie Everett and the band put on an impressive show. They really set the tone for the rest of the night and got the crowd amped up right from the start. There was even a short Philadelphia Eagles chant after one of the songs.

Some songs that stood out were “Say My Name” and the banger “Don’t Let Them Tell You” but it was the infectious and anthemic “Hey You” that got the Fillmore really rocking. It’s one of those songs you can just listen to over and over again. The band’s lyrics are heartfelt and relatable so the audience was very vocal during their set. The crowd just loved them. It couldn’t have gone any better!

Spacey Jane opened their set with a double punch with “Through My Teeth” and “Estimated Delivery.” Right out of the gate, guitarist  Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu got the crowd going with his old school rock star moves(hair flips and high knee kicks).

The crowd was totally engaged during the entire set. The showmanship between charismatic frontman Caleb Harper and the other band members was fun to watch. The band’s beautiful harmonies were spot on during the night. Drummer Kieran Lama and bassist Peppa Lane provided many killer grooves throughout the show. Some of the songs earlier in the set that stood out were ‘All The Noise” and “Whateverrr.” Eventually the band slowed it down. They played two sweet sentimental songs, back to back, with “It’s Been A Long Day” and “Ily The Most.” The crowd swayed and sang along.

They ended the set with their breakout hit “Booster Seat,” which garnered them song of the year in Australia in 2020. The band encored with “So Much Taller” and “Lots of Nothing.”

Kudos to this incredibly energetic Philly audience who sang their hearts out, clapped, bounced and screamed from the time the band walked out on stage. It made the performance even more special. The vibe in the building was incredible.

Overall, it was a great show as the audience was treated to two memorable performances from two of the best indie bands around.
