Pop Break Live: NOBRO at The Champagne Jam at The Brooklyn Bowl Philly on Friday December 19, 2025
NOBRO, the bad-ass all female punk band from Montreal, played The Champagne Jam in Philadelphia on Friday 12/19.
The Champagne Jam is an annual two-day event thrown by beloved New Jersey and Philly band The Front Bottoms. It’s a multi-venue event with NOBRO serving as the headliner at the Brooklyn Bowl (The Fillmore hosted other bands on both nights).
NOBRO has been touring since 2014 and has been garnering fans all over the globe since then. Through their songs and messages of sisterhood, they have empowered a new generation of girls and women. They are known for their high octane shows and anthemic songs. Their popularity soared even more when they won the Juno Award for Best Rock Album of the Year for 2025 in Canada (the equivalent of winning a Grammy in the U.S).
The band is lead by charismatic vocalist and bassist Kathryn McCaughey. Once the the opening acts were finished, the floor of the Brooklyn Bowl was packed. NOBRO played an extremely crowd pleasing eleven song set. They started the night off with the high energy anthem “Where My Girls At.” The crowd sang along on the catchy refrain “Whoa” while fist pumping.
It pretty much set the tone for the rest of the entire night. They fired up the crowd by playing back to back to back favorites, “Set That Pussy Free” and the ’70s sounding “Let’s Do Drugs.” Their chemistry with the audience was extremely apparent. McCaughey jumped into the pit a few times and hung on the barricade. The fans were just smiling from ear to ear. She also crowd surfed. It was a fun part of the show.
The band’s showmanship shone throughout the set. There were also some really great guitar solos. Some songs that really stood out were “Eat Slay Chardonnay” and” “Better Each Day.”
NOBRO tore it up on the last song of the night on “Bye Bye Baby.” What also stood out was the great musicianship of the band and the way they really connected to their fans. There was such a great happy vibe during the set.
Believe all the hype the band has received. It really felt like an old school rock show. They absolutely slayed!
