From Ghostface to Grogu: Ranking The Super Bowl LX Trailers

Super Bowl LX is in the books. As many predicted, The Seattle Seahawks rolled The New England Patriots in a game that started as a defensive masterpiece where only the kickers could crack the scoreboard. However, as the game proceeded, Seattle’s defense took over and created opportunities for Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and the Seahawks offense.

However, we have to say for the first time in a few years, Bad Bunny’s unbelievable halftime show, the movie trailer and commercials more than made up for the lack of offense in the first half of this game.

So, as we do every year, let’s rank the trailers!

Supergirl
Release Date: June 26, 2025
Starring: Milly Alcock, Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley, David Corenswet, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley.
Directed by: Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya; Cruella)
Thoughts: This trailer was released during the Puppy Bowl, and for good reason — it features one of the best boys, Krypto, as a young puppy. It’s adorable and heartwarming, and definitely a smart spot to air during the dog-centric pre-Super Bowl event. The trailer, outside of the Krypto of it all, really doesn’t add much to what we’ve already seen from prior Supergirl trailers…which isn’t a bad thing.

Minions & Monsters
Release Date: July 1, 2026
Starring: Pierre Coffin
Directed by: Pierre Coffin
Thoughts: The most interesting thing about this trailer was what we saw on the broadcast with a minion (Kevin likely) running breathlessly towards the screen. Otherwise, this is  literally the same movie with the same jokes over and over and over again. Whether its Minions movies or the Despicable Me franchise, the Minions are a one-trick joke, but people still go to theaters to watch it thus they’ll keep getting made.

6. Scream 7
Release Date: February 27, 2026
Starring: Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy-Brown, Mason Gooding, Joel McHale, Anna Camp.
Directed by: Kevin Williamson (Scream)
Thoughts: The first Scream is incredible. Absolutely brilliant stuff. After seeing this trailer one could question, “How could we keep all this going after 30 years?” Well, just look at other horror franchises like Halloween, and you’ve got your answer. This looks like a treat for fans, but one has to question — how much runway is left for this franchise? They seem to be treading into the Danny McBride new era Halloween with the “final girl” and her family being involved. The joke will be on me when we see the trailer for Scream 10 in a few years.

5. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Release Date: April 1, 2026
Starring: (voices of) Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Brie Larsen, Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson.
Directed by: Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Super Mario Bros Movie)
Thoughts: It’s-a-cute! Like you needed another reason to pre-order a ticket for this movie? Baby Mario and Baby Luigi look adorable as anything, and given the quality of the first film, there’s a good shot this turns in a similar “well that was way better than expected” result. Intrigued to see how the addition of Brie Larsen’s Rosalina and Yoshi impacts the story here.

4. Project Hail Mary
Release Date: March 20, 2026
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Sandra Huller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub, Priya Kansara, James Ortiz.
Directed by: Phil Lord & Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie)
Thoughts: Easily the best trailer for this film. This trailer deftly toes the lie between humor and horror, something previous trailers did not balance very well. The previous trailers that you could not avoid as it seemed to be in front of every film felt like crash cuts between “Isn’t Ryan Gosling charmingly befuddled?” and “OMG the world is ending!” It was a lot. This trailer, however, develops a sweeter and more emotional bond between Gosling’s character and the alien “Rocky.” This relationship feels so genuine, that when things go awry, you really feel the stakes of the film jumping off your screen. That’s the mark of an excellent trailer and it might just be the thing that takes people off their couch and puts them into theaters.

3. Disclosure Day
Release Date: June 12, 2026
Starring: Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell, Colman Domingo.
Directed by: Steven Spielberg
Thoughts: An absolute dog of a title, but this trailer is haunting. It grabs you from the jump. It has the vibes of Signs, Minority Report, and War of the Worlds. It’s got a terrific cast, one hell of a pedigree (Spielberg and screenwriter David Koepp), and all the trappings of a big budget, see it in the movies summer blockbuster. It raises so many questions throughout and it’s the type of film that feels like you need to sit in a dark room and enjoy. The biggest fear with this film is the studio will keep dropping trailers and give away a big plot point — something studios are apt to do.

2. The Mandalorian and Grogu
Release Date: May 22, 2026
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, Jonny Coyne
Directed by: Jon Favreau (Iron Man)
Thoughts: Admittedly, when the word on the internet was that Disney was only pushing The Mandalorian and Grogu during the Super Bowl, it was a bit disheartening. No Marvel? No Pixar? No Disney Animation? Sometimes it feels good to be wrong. Parodying a Budweiser commercial with Tauntauns replacing Clydesdales, and Mando and our sweet baby boy at the reins was absolutely terrific. It was clever, fun, and creative … and it was the first time in a minute where we can all relish in Star Wars being fun and lighthearted.

1. The Adventures of Cliff Booth
Release Date: 2026
Starring: Brad Pitt, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, Timothy Olyphant
Directed by: David Fincher (Mindhunter, Zodiac)
Thoughts: It was rumored that Netflix was not dropping any trailers during the Super Bowl, so you can imagine the shock of everyone when a film no one was expecting to see a trailer for dropped. And boy did it ever drop. For those who are unfamiliar, The Adventures of Cliff Booth is the sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. However, Tarantino is not behind the camera, it’s David Fincher. The idea of Fincher playing in Tarantino’s sandbox with a killer cast makes this easily one of the most anticipated films of the year.
