Review: Space Ghost Season 2 Issue #9 (Dynamite Comics)

Things are not as they seem in Space Ghost Season Issue #9. It appears as though our heroes are not where they think they are, or when they are, or even if they’re alive? Where are they?

So many questions, but have no fear dear readers. The answers lie within the pages of the next exciting adventure of Space Ghost!

Apparently Space Ghost is on the run, charged with the murder of Dr. Henry Contra! Could this be the fallout from the last heartbreaking issue? A mysterious detective named “Prospero” appears to easily subdue our cosmic crusader—all too easily?

Strange, as it appears Jace is revealed to be elsewhere… or elsewhen? Things are not as they seem as the Robochanic’s origin is revealed, and things are certainly not as they seem at all? Have we traveled into an alternate reality? Or is there a puppet master magically maneuvering behind the scenes?

You have got to love these nods to classic characters who may have only had a short appearance in previous mediums, but now are used generously.

It would seem our trio of Heroes stumbled upon a mystical artifact, a tool if you will, where something or someone is controlling their reality. Is it possible to believe in blip to save the day? You’ll just have to pick up this issue and read on to find out.

It would seem that each character faces their greatest fear, and while Space Ghost and Jace confront theirs, it is Jan who confronts the scariest fear of all.

Will our fractured heroes break, or can willpower, friendship, and a super-genius monkey be the key to their survival. Only time will tell if this is true, however another alliance is revealed towards the end of the episode revealing the main antagonist of the current season.

Space Ghost continues to be suspenseful and thrilling. Peoples and Lau, along with Dalhouse, Esposito, Mattina, and Rybandt, continue to produce banger after banger. I have probably said this before, but there’s no shame in repeating myself. The second season of space ghost feels like an intense episodic binge-worthy series. If Space Ghost were ever to be revived for television, the blueprints are right here.
