Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Finding Nemo is probably the one Pixar film that I’ve revisited the second least next to Cars, but I can’t say it’s not a beautiful, wonderful film. This is a sequel that I’m wary about, but I’m excited to the next installment of this aquatic adventure. Hopefully it’s more Toy Story 3 quality and less Cars 2. –LJF
Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Pixar is one of the best production studios in film history, but their track record with sequels have run a wide range from amazing (Toy Story 3) to mediocre (Monsters University) to downright dismal (Cars 2). Finding Nemo is one of the most beloved Pixar films, so Finding Dory will have a lot to live up to. After Inside Out, Pixar regained a lot of confidence that was lost after years of sequels and disappointments. Along with The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory will need to show that Pixar is really back to their old form. – JTM
Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5. The animation is beautiful and the focus on Dory’s zany, entertaining character will bring a lot to the proceedings. However, Pixar needs to make sure they don’t overdo her memory loss angle. –LJF
Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5. The trailer only gave us a very small snippet about what the plot will actually be (Dory searching for her family), but it was great to see these characters again. The thirteen years between films seems almost seamless here, as Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks have slipped right back into their old roles. It was a short teaser trailer, but it’s enough to convince me that Pixar does know what it’s doing here. – JTM
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I haven’t missed a Pixar film in theaters in years (except Cars 2, but that was on purpose) and I don’t plan to start now. Finding Dory looks fun but I still worry about its sequel status, especially in the Pixar libary. We will find out the results soon enough. I know they’ll crank out another winner.-LJF
Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? Theater. There’s really not much debate here. Except for the Cars films, there’s never been a Pixar film I’ve been hesitant to see in theaters. – JTM
Finding Dory will find its way into theaters on June 17, 2016
