An impactful event in your life is supposed to inspire you to do better, to not make the same mistakes. Gwen Stefani found new love when she lost all that she had, everyone gets it and we are happy for her, however with this album it proves she needs to go back to No Doubt. She has been known for years for her quirky voice and fashion and we love her for it. We plea that she goes back to what she knows.
I love Gwen. I really do and I want what is best for her as any fan would. This is What the Truth Feels Like has its moments but overall it’s not Gwen’s best. The single, “Make Me Like you” has a very catchy, dance beat with cute, simplistic lyrics like, “I’m so mad at you ’cause now you got me missing you.” “Used to Love You,” clearly about her brutal break up with Gavin Rossdale, cries out “nobody taught you how to love” and “I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you.” You can tell that this song was her heartfelt venting to her fans on what has happened in her life. I love the guitar in “Rare” and the lyrics in the song aren’t terrible. ” “You’re a sapphire, you’re a rolling stone, you’re a sparkle in a deep, black hole you’re like moonshine when the curtains close And I can’t believe it, that you even exist … You’re rare, and I’m loving every second of it, don’t you know.”
Again, I do love the artistry and the overall presence that Gwen Stefani has given the world in the past. She has had her ups and downs with both her life and her music in her entire career. She has that certain spark about her that lingers in your mind. That spark has fizzled out with This is What the Truth Feels Like though and we hope to see it again in the future.
