The Grid NYC, a music festival in the vein of SXSW, which was scheduled to happen May 5-7 has officially been canceled.
According to a statement from organizers, originally seen on Brooklyn Vegan:
It is with a very heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of The Grid. We started working on The Grid over two years ago and it has truly been a labor of love. The feedback from artists, musicians, fans and our NYC partners has been awesome. Our team is hopeful that we will have another chance to bring this event to life in the future. Anyone who purchased tickets will automatically receive a full refund no later than April 8, 2016. Thank you for your support.
The Grid was described as a festival for artists, musicians, and music explorers, aims to create a safe and collaborative environment for lovers of all types of music with over 100 multi-genre performances spread out over the duration of the festival.
Musical performances set for the festival were to include, Young The Giant, City and Colour, St. Lucia, Ingrid Michaelson, Frank Turner, AWOLNATION, Neon Indian, Best Coast, Butch Walker, Atlas Genius, Questlove, The Bouncing Souls, Kaleo, Bronze Radio Return, COIN, Hey Marseilles, Jared & The Mill, The Lighthouse and The Whaler, LOLO, MAX, and Twin Forks, San Fermin, Sunflower Bean, Haerts, Oberhofer, Beacon, Sam King, and many more.
Along with performances there was intended to be “Storyteller Sessions” featuring speakers such as, Linda Perry, Spike Lee, Brian Eno, Chuck D, Dave Navarro, Chuck Klosterman, David Eagleman, Killer Mike from Run the Jewels, Tyler Bates and Vijay Gupta.
