Prince Has Passed Away
As first reported by TMZ, the 57-year-old Grammy award-winning artist was found dead in his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota on Thursday.
This comes after reports of the singer being treated for flu last Friday. His plane had to make an emergency landing in Illinois so the artist could be brought to the hospital. He was released three hours later and was back on stage performing for fans the next night.
Currently, the cause of death has yet to be released.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, is a Rock + Roll Hall of Famer inductee and legendarily prolific artist. He has been a staple of the pop culture collective consciousness since the release of his breakthrough album 1999, in 1982. He created hit classics like “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry,” kept the world on their toes by becoming the artist formerly known as Prince, and gave pop culture fodder for amazing skits, songs, and parodies that are almost as unique as he is. His most recent work included an amazing guest spot on the FOX sitcom New Girl, and his September 2015 release HITnRUN Phase One.
