Whovians abounded at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on October 7 for a special Doctor Who event.
The event, which was tied into New York Comic Con, dropped some huge pieces of news.
The first piece of news was the grand reveal of Shameless and Orphan Black star, Justin Chatwin’s role in the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.
The reveal of his character is below from the official BBC America Twitter account.

Outside of the Chatwin reveal, the audience also got a sneak peak at the teaser trailer/first look/behind-the-scenes trailer for the aforementioned Doctor Who Christmas special. The episode, the only Who episode of 2016, will air on Christmas Day (no surprise there). In the trailer we see that Matt Lucas’ Nardole (who appeared last year’s Christmas special) will be a main player in the episode. We also caught a couple of glimpses of Chatwin’s character in action.
The final bit (and it’s a hardly a bit) of Who-related news that came from the panel was the official release of the trailer for the Doctor Who spin-off series, Class. This series will air in 2017 on BBC America.
