The first, full trailer for DC Comics’ Wonder Woman has been unveiled…and it is glorious.
The trailer for the film, set for release on June 9, drops the audience in the midst of World War I. It introduces us to not only Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) island home but to various characters such as Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor (Diana Prince’s love interest, and sidekick), Danny Huston as one of the main villains and Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright as the Amazonians Queen Hippolyta (Wonder Woman’s mother), and General Antiope (Wonder Woman’s aunt) respectively.
The film is directed by Patty Jenkins who helmed the Oscar-winning Aileen Wournos drama, Monster. It also stars Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead), Saïd Taghmaoui (Three Kings) Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Ewen Bremer (Trainspotting). The screenplay was written by Geoff Johns and Allen Heinberg.
From a quick, critical standpoint — this is probably one of the most impressive, and epic DC-related trailers I’ve seen since the Nolan Batman movies. The film is beautifully shot, the action is intense, the scene selection for the trailer is perfect, and they give Gadot’s Wonder Woman the iconic treatment this character deserves.
