2017 Elimination Chamber Recap

I still can’t get over how they manage a four-man announce team. Really don’t.

Tonight’s Elimination Chamber had a lot of solid matches, some could have been better. Had more potential.  The main event saw the crowd get loud. Cena and Styles started the match, and that caused the crowd to lose it.

Throughout the night, Carmella and James Ellsworth were constantly asked their opinion about the matches. Why, I couldn’t tell you. I hate this gimmick

Mojo Rawley defeats Curt Hawkins

Not a bad match. Rawley did his job of giving the pre-show some energy, Hawkins is good as heel, but needs something more.

Becky Lynch defeats Mickie James

I was surprised Lynch won, only to see this feud continue. My guess at this point is a fatal-four way for the SmackDown Women’s Champion, as there is no clear contender. Lynch looked great in this match against James, says a lot about the Irish Lass Kicker.

Apollo Crews & Kalisto defeated Dolph Ziggler

Poor guy, another loss. He tries taking out Kalisto before the match starts, but he comes back anyway. The two-on-one was too much for Ziggles. After the match, Ziggler takes out both with a chair, and then goes bat-nut crazy on Crews with the chair. While the announce team condemn the actions of Ziggler, the crowd thinks otherwise with chants of “one more time” and “thank you Ziggler.” My guess is the crowd does not want to be force-fed Crews anymore.

American Alpha survives Tag Team Turmoil

Call me surprised again. I didn’t pick Alpha because I thought they would go into WrestleMania as challengers. Somehow I felt a victory of winning the titles would look better than retaining at Mania, but hey, I’m still happy about the result. I love seeing American Alpha go, they bring great energy and the live crowd is always pumped. I hope that momentum doesn’t wear out too quickly though. I wonder the time of The Revival joining SmackDown is nearing, their matches on NXT were nothing less than awesome.

Nikki Bella vs. Natalya went to a double-count out.

Eh, mostly brawl, couple decent spots, but meh. Post-match, brawl continued backstage where Maryse gets hit with powder or something.

Randy Orton defeated Luke Harper

This was a fantastic match. Harper gets MVP in my book. What I found great, the match began with fans behind Orton, following that, crowd began to sway towards Harper. There is no doubt Harper is a talented guy and could survive on his own, but it is his time to do so? Some bigtime spots like a top rope superplex, but ultimately, the RKO ended it. Not that Orton needed a win tonight, but it was an acceptable one.

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Naomi defeats Alexa Bliss

Did not see that coming. Wow. Decent match, did not expect the title to change hands so soon. Good match, a lot of back and forth. A lot of moments where it seemed Naomi was “too much” on a roll and would lose, but Bliss just couldn’t put her away. Naomi wins, and the crowd erupts in “you deserve it chants.” She cries during a post-match interview.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER: BRAY WYATT WINS TO BECOME THE NEW WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

The match started with John Cena and AJ Styles. Next up is Dean Ambrose who highlights with a dive off a cell, and is a victim of a Super-Cena-Super-German-Suplex also involving Styles. Next out is Bray Wyatt. Cena and Styles fight up on the chamber wall, Cena takes a hard fall, then Ambrose and Styles fight on top a pod, until Styles has his head rammed hard into the plexiglass. Ambrose is then caught diving by Wyatt. Later, Ambrose powerbombs Wyatt off the turnbuckle while he throws Styles off the pod. Geezuz. Bacon Rorbin is in next, and he cleans house. Deep Sixes to everyone. The Miz is the final entrant and does not want to come out, except Ambrose rolls up Bacon Rorbin and he is first eliminated! The Lone Wolf is not happy so he puts Ambrose through a pod and destroys both Ambrose and pod. Corbin leaves, and Miz darts in to eliminate Ambrose. Miz has a solid offensive, until Cena catches a Miz crossbody, turns it into an AA, follows it up with the laziest pin I have ever seen, which somehow is enough to eliminate a fresh Miz from the match, leaving it down to Styles and Wyatt. What the hell. The boos begins as super-Cena continues his rampage, with a “ten-knuckle shuffle” on both Wyatt and Styles. Following a string of finishers, Cena dives off the top of a pod onto both Wyatt and Styles. The ref checks on all, throwing up an arm when he gets to Styles. Possible injury??

Cena hits the AA on Styles, but Wyatt rushes in, dropping Cena with Sister Abigail and gets the pin!!! CENA IS ELIMINATED!!!!

Styles and Wyatt trade every move they can. Who would have thought this would come down to these two?? Back and forth, back and forth, Styles hits a 450, not enough as Wyatt comes back to score another Sister Abigail and WINS THE WWE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!! ABOUT GODDAMN TIME!!!

Cena, he has a two week reign as 16-time champion. Ugh, this might mean reign 17 is a lock. It also means Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are set to collide at WrestleMania. Former family members now opponents.

Things will get interesting within the next seven weeks.
