Chucky is back in the new film Cult of Chucky (the trailer dropped today), and here is why you should be excited for this:
1. Andy Barclay Makes His Triumphant Return
Besides the short cameo at the end of Curse of Chucky, Andy hasn’t appeared in a Child’s Play film since Part 3, where he was portrayed by Justin Whalin instead of the original, Alex Vincent. It has been a long 26 years since Andy has had to face Chucky and I am glad its Alex Vincent who gets to be the one to do it.
2. The Death of Andy Barclay
Whenever an original character returns to a series after a long period of time, it almost certainly means they are going to die. Consider Laurie Strode in Halloween and Nancy Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street. This means Chucky might finally get his revenge after all of these years.
3. Tiffany In Human Form
If you remember, Tiffany stole the body of Jennifer Tilly back in Seed of Chucky, which means that Chucky now has a human ally to help him move around easier for the kill. Tiffany is a fan favorite, so her return is sure to make some people very happy.
4. The Setting
This sequel takes place in a mental institution, where Nica (Fiona Dourif) now resides. No one believed her when she said a doll had killed her family back in Curse of Chucky and now they are about to regret not listening closer. When Chucky goes on a killing spree inside those walls, who is going to believe a bunch of mental patients when they tell them what they have seen? Perhaps we will get to see Nica and Andy team up for survival.
5. The Director
Cult of Chucky will be directed by the screenwriter of every Child’s Play film in the series, Don Mancini. This means that there will be no clashing of ideas between director and writer; Don will make the film exactly how he envisioned it from word one of the script. We get his Chucky 100% pure.
