The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: ‘The Burial’ Has So Many Cliffhangers

After a somewhat cliffhanger ending from Episode 7, I’m reminded why I love Netflix and binge watching.

After only a few minutes of anticipation, “The Burial” reveals that Harvey has survived and Tommy has presumably been killed in the mines. I hate to say it, but when Tommy arrived as the perfect, self sacrificing, guardian angel, I knew that he was going to die. Harvey is in shock. To make matters worse, his dad is, to be blunt, the worst EVER. Harvey doesn’t know how he can live with his dad (Did I mention he’s the worst EVER? ), but not Tommy. This leads to some heartbreaking scenes early on in the episode, including a very emotional funeral scene.

Meanwhile Sabrina’s friends are having chilling adventures of their own. Susie is being visited in her dreams by her ancestor Dorothea, who is actually encouraging her to take brave actions like climb into the mines. I like it and am excited for this character arc.

Elsewhere, Ros, who is going blind, is starting to discover her “cunning” powers manifesting with new visions. Much like a Cisco Ramone/Vibe character in The Flash, I think this will be helpful down the line. I like Ros a lot and my heart was broken when we found out she was slowly going blind. I’m glad she gets some powers out of the deal — even if it’s something of a consolation prize. After picking up Tommy’s helmet she reveals to Sabrina that she saw Dorcas and Agatha in a vision. Sabrina does the math and realizes this has all been the work of two out of the three sisters.

Another great character and scene stealer from this episode has been the other sister, Prudence, who Sabrina enlists the help of when she plans to resurrect Tommy for Harvey. I actually really like it when these two get on the same page in the series. It has been some of the best material so far. The witches sacrifice Agatha and perform a ritual to bring back Tommy. Cousin Ambrose (another stand out) warns Sabrina to stop meddling with the forces of life and death, but she does not heed his warning. This is perfect for the character. Sabrina’s heart is always in the right place, yet she really can’t help but break the rules at every turn. My prediction at this point: Tommy will not quite be himself.

Well let me tell you, I wasn’t too far off. Sabrina returns to the mines to find Tommy has left. Meanwhile, Harvey and his dad are eating dinner when they hear a very creepy repetitive knock at the door. This HAS to be Tommy. I’m guessing he’s going to be a Frankenstein or Zombie Tommy. Maybe worse. Harvey goes to open the door and …….NO! It can’t possibly be! …..Another CLIFFHANGER!!
