Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent (But Possibly Theater).
Okay, I got to say, The Adventures Of Tintin looks pretty epic. I know that I’ll want to watch this. Will I be able to see it in the theater is the only question. Normally, I seek out people to go to the movies with, and Tintin may not interest anyone in my surrounding area. I don’t see why not, really. With Peter Jackson and Steven Speilberg together on this one, Tintin should really be something to check out in theaters, as these masters of cinema have clearly proven they know what they’re doing. And if that wasn’t enough, Edgar Wright (director of Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Spaced, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) has penned the screenplay for this, and being that the dude is my favorite director, the planets have aligned for something that could be cinematically spectacular with all the names behind it. Also, with the CGI looking crisp, the action looking fierce, and the scale looking massive, The Adventures Of Tin Tin has all the factors of an awesome animated blockbuster. I’ll definitely be checking it out.

Tintin is the perfect film for the holiday season — it seems fun, thrilling and absolutely entertaining. I thought the CGI employed in this film, that all too human look that was used in The Polar Express, would detract from the film, but I was dead wrong. It adds a unique element to the film that just makes me want to see it even more. It actually makes more sense that the film is animated, I feel a live action version wouldn’t capture the essence of the original comics. Besides the sense of fun and adventure this film seems to exude from the trailer — the behind-the-scenes people are a film nerd’s dream come true. Stephen Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Edgar Wright, Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Joe Cornish (Attack The Block) all have a hand in bringing Tintin to life, and honestly, how can the film go wrong with all these men involved in it? Throw in the fact that Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are lending their voices to the film, and you’ll be seeing me checking this film out in theaters for sure. I think this film will satiate my film nerdiness, my thirst for escapist films and my inner child who’s always been enthralled with animated adventures.
