It’s wild to think about where the music industry takes bands. For Brooklyn-based rock outfit Added Color, in their brief two-year existence, the band has played the massive Brazilian rock fest Porao Do Rock where they shared a bill with Muse and Eagles of Death Metal. The band’s Brazilian roots got them dubbed one of that country’s upcoming rock bands by The Monsters of Rock Festival. They’ve toured Morocco three times, and had praise heaped on them by PureVolume, Red Bull Music, Huffington Post, The Village Voice, and AOL’s Noisecreep.
And now they’re on a tour of intimate clubs around the United States — a tour that brings them to Happy Mondays at Wonder Bar tonight. In this interview we talk to the band about their international roots, new music, and how no matter what the size of the crowd is — they are amped to be performing live.

You guys have performed in some massive festivals in Brazil, and currently touring venues in the U.S. Can you talk abut the difference between playing in the U.S. and Brazil?
As you mentioned, some of the shows we played in Brazil were massive. That’s probably the biggest difference for us. But to be honest, a pumped up crowd is beautiful regardless of where you are.
When can your fans expect a new record coming out?
End of the year or early next year.
You guys did an awesome collaboration with Grammy nominated artist Samir Langus. Can you talk about how the collaboration came about, and how you guys feel about how the sound of the song came out?
We love the way it came out. The day we met Samir was our first jam and it went extremely well. Samir is an awesome musician and interestingly, Moroccan rhythms are very relatable to Brazilian rhythms, which made us vibe instantly. He is a great person and musician. We are super happy with the song, and with how naturally it all came together.
What’s one of the wildest things that happened at an Added Color show?
We were playing in Macon, GA, which is one of our favorite places to play. Right as we kick in the show with ‘Panic Attack,’ a fight between two huge dudes breaks out right in front of the stage. Immediately there are two giant bouncers dog piling them. Shit looks like an MMA ring. So we just give each other a funny look and keep rocking out.
What Do You Love About Being in This Band?
We live for the band. So the answer is everything.
What’s a definitive goal you guys have for this year?
Keep expanding our team and keep our momentum.
What are you most excited about for this band in 2019?
We’re recording an EP in a giant house with the engineers from Silver Cord (Gojira’s studio). Those guys have become family and its a dream to be working with them.
Added Color performs at Happy Mondays at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ tonight along with Kate Dressed Up and Elaine Rasnake. There’s no cover.
