Pop Break Live: Gov’t Mule Summer 2019 with Nikki Lane at The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey

Nothing can stop Gov’t Mule — not even a storm — from delivering a blow-away show.
The month of June had been a fairly soggy one for Asbury Park, and it was no different on June 28 when Gov’t Mule brought their Summer 2019 Tour to the famed Stone Pony Summer Stage.
The day had featured a number of quick storms, but that didn’t deter Warren Haynes and the boys from going out there, and delivering what some longtime Mule fans are calling, “one of the most awesome shows they’ve done in Asbury.” The first set included covers of The Allman Brothers, Staple Singers, and Al Green as well as Mule originals such as “Rocking Horse,” and “Game Face.”
Now, unfortunately, Mother Nature did put a damper on things as the band’s second set was cut short by a pretty intense rain and electrical storm. For the safety of the band and those attending, the right decision was made to end things, and get everyone to safety.
Opening things up for Gov’t Mule was “The Highway Queen” herself Nikki Lane. (Obviously this moniker is in reference to her record of the same name). The singer brought her blend of country and Americana to her crowd-pleasing 10 song set.
