NWA Powerrr Episode 19, ‘Strictly Chaos’

NWA Powerrr

David Marquez welcomes us to NWA Powerrr Episode 19, ‘Strictly Chaos’ and welcomes Tim Storm to the podium. Marquez and Storm recount his loss last week to Thom Latimer. He’s disappointed but moreover frustrated over the faux “Mama Storm.” Tim pledges to keep going but Latimer comes out to straighten out any stuff that he feels Tim Storm may have tried to stir up between him and Nick Aldis. When Latimer leaves, Tim correctly guesses that “Mama Storm” was going to come out. Only the costume is off and it’s Highspots spokesman, Danny Deals, who offers Storm a tag team partner to get back into the winning ways. Storm says it’s a hard pass so Danny gives him deal: Lose and he gets the mystery man a contract with NWA. Win and he gets five minutes with Deals. The mystery man? Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jax Dane!

Next up with David Marquez is Matt Cross. Cross talks about his international successes but gets emotional about the prospect of competing in the NWA for a US audience that truly appreciates wrestling.

Matt Cross vs “Outlandish” Zickey Dice vs Ricky Starks

Neither Ricky Starks’ NWA TV title nor Zickey Dice’s extravagant fanny pack are on the line in this Triple Threat.  Cross and Starks are set on wrestling. Dice is determined to pick the bones, focusing on rival, Ricky Starks, outside the ring.  Matt Cross manages to hit the Cross-Cutter and a Shooting Star Press on the reigning TV champ but Zickey gonna Zickeyand sends Cross out to the floor.  He covers Starks for the 1-2-3 and may have just earned himself a title shot.

Winner by pinfall: “Outandish” Zickey Dice!

May Valentine’s Diary is up next with her outlining Royce Isaacs’ (ill-gotten) win over The Rock n’ Roll Express, her friendship with Sal Rinauro, and how Kamille is really, like, a total sweetheart.

Joe Galli interviews the (third degree) NWA National Champion, Aron “Shooter” Stevens. Despite Galli and the audience’s insistence otherwise, Stevens claims to be a fighting champion. They switch gears to talk about Stevens’ sensei, the Question Mark and his match coming up… now!

The Question Mark vs Trevor Murdoch

Murdoch hits like the big rig you might imagine him driving after the match.  Quetsion Mark tries to fight back with a Mongrovian Spike but Trevor dodges. Question Mark seems hurt and Murdoch goes up top for his signature Flying Bulldog.  The big Texan remains Question Mark’s Achilles’ heel. After the match, though, he is blindsided by Aron Stevens and subjected to a Mongrovian double team beatdown.

Winner by pinfall: Trevor Murdoch!

NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis, comes out to speak with Sean Mooney.  Asked about his upcoming match with “The Villain” Marty Scurll, Aldis runs through his recent victories against NWA and Ring of Honor stars.  He says that he’s giving Marty Scurll one chance to come out and admit that Nick is the better man in order to back out of their Crockett Cup match.  The Villain says he’s not backing out. In fact, he’s ready to go now! He hops in the ring and taunts the champion. Nick gives him three chances to be sure about it as Royce Isaacs and Thom Latimer appear at ringside.  Marty’s answer comes in the form of Villain Enterprises’ Brody King rushing Aldis and his Strictly Business mates!

Eddie Kingston comes out to talk about The Pope with David Marquez.  The have themselves a quick chuckle but Eddie is dead serious about taping up his fists.  He calls Pope’s “punk card” and insists he make his way out to meet him. Pope shows up but keeps his distance from “the trash.”  He says that Pope does what Pope wants. The Bouncers show up as Kingston’s backup but Pope has still has more to say: He’s paid off The Bouncers and they leave Eddie lying in a heap!

Sean Mooney announces that The Rock n’ Roll Express has officially entered the Crockett Cup tag team tournament to be held at Gateway Arena in Atlanta on April 19TH.  Zickey Dice will indeed challenge Ricky Starks for the NWA Television Title next week while The Pope’s new protegees, The Bouncers, against tag champs, Eli Drake and “Cowboy” James Storm.

Melina vs Thunder Rosa(c) for the NWA Women’s Championship

Melina seems more interested in talking than fighting and Thunder Rosa’s invitation to lock up is refused.  Melina simply rolls out of the ring, content to talk trash while walking up the bleachers. Zero dimes given as the referee’s count reaches ten and Thunder Rosa retains her title.

Winner by count out… and still NWA Women’s Champion: Thunder Rosa!

Melina is about to exit towards the top of the bleachers when Allysin Kay appears!  She stalks Melina back down to the ring and into a corner, daring her to mix it up. The crowd comes alive when Kamille slides into the ring and goes right through Allysin with a spear!  The Blonde Brickhouse stands triumphant, casting a cool gaze at Thunder Rosa who seems intrigued by the potential challenge as she steps away from the ring.

Five Takeaways From NWA Powerrr Episode 19, ‘Strictly Chaos’

  1. As Danny Deals mentioned, Tim Storm and Jax Dane have a history.  For those who haven’t seen him in New Japan, RoH, or Impact, Jax Dane is an NWA grand slam winner and a mountain of a man using a bruiser ring style.

  2. I’m curious to see where the Pope/Kingston angle goes from here.  Eddie is ****ing spittin’ every time he gets a minute on the mic so it would seem foolish to stop him now.  With The Dawsons out of play and the Bouncers selling out, what’s the next chapter hold for Outlaw Inc?

  3. Matt Cross is a fantastic addition to the NWA roster and his involvement in the Television (and possibly National) title pictures for now will elevate the title and the field.  Hopefully, he’ll get something out of the deal, too.

  4. If there’s a woman who can bring physicality to supersede that of Allysin Kay, the nearly-six-foot-tall Valkyrie, Kamille, fits that billing.

  5. Seems like the audience missed its cue for a “Mama Storm” chant tonight.  They did get a real good “We don’t like you!” going for Zickey Dice, though.
